The club need to cut their losses and put McEvoy and Frawley down as failed recruits and put them on the trade table.
It's clear we need to start targeting youth and a new spine!

The dynasty is over!
Everybody loves a scapegoat.

A few of our leadership group could do with some home truths before we set upon Chip and Bigboy.

No no, completely agree that our leaders had no impact last night other than Mitch but they weren't high profile recruits and only have a year or two remaining at most. Was talking from a list management perspective.
We may fall away quickly and draft picks may be our best option for the next few years rather than the Carlisles / Dangerfield's. Recruit nobody over the age of 22 please!

True. But he'd have to show that he can service the loan he would've had to have taken out, and as he can't show he has income past about the next month without a contract and the only side he can legally sign a contract with at the moment is ours...
There are ways he can secure the finance without a signed contract. We also might be waiting for off season to announce his signing
Not much after tonight's performance.
birchall was the only defender running to create other than hodge. Literally the rest could not have given a stuff.

Opinion only .
Our program has stalled in the last 2-3 yrs . I believe we should have
1. Backed in Cegs and Lowden .
2. Kept our picks 18 and 19 and traded Sav for a second rdr and kept BB away from us
3. Not used 18 on JOR , not going to be a best 25 .
4 . Should have put a Stratton or Gus on the table . We are to deep in the HBF roles

Gibson and Burger are nearing the end. Sucker could possibly be gone come 2016.

Jesus, one loss and the trade talk is in overdrive!

Big boy is still young and in my mind, is doing a great job. He's already being touted as a future leader of the club and was far from our worst last night.
No your right , let's sit on our hand and pray !!!

Hey HB, always follow your posts with interest. Esp the trade ones :) do you think we would have managed to get through the season last year and win the granny without BB? I'm not sure Hale, Ceglar and Lowden would have got us to the pinnacle.
I truly believe Cegs was ready to provide the equal of BB , Hale was fine and Lowden the unknown , keep in mind as well Ruffs ability to pinch hit in the ruck . Also flip it , if we trade 18 and 19 for a quality mid at the time would it have covered the diff between Cegs and BB ??

Hill and Suckling traded hopefully.
Hale , Lake to retire.
Itd be awesome if they could O'meara or Bennell but the chances are slim.
A mate & I were talking to Marley Williams earlier this year at the Casino. He is mates with Hill from their younger days in W.A. Reckons that Hill will leave the Hawks to play with his brother at Freo. He said that it isn't a maybe ... it's a definite. I know it's not the biggest secret but it's been confirmed from a named source. If that's the case he's had a fairly average year. Would it be worth throwing his name around now, or hoping he reinvigorates himself next year?????

IIRC he hurt a knee earlier in the year & has never really found form since. At times he is so physically weak it makes me giggle. I know he's not a physical player & respect that, but he is incredibly easy to move off the ball ... as is Suckers. You have to at least provide a contest FFS.

Respect your opinion HBD, and in hindsight the BigBoy trade will probably end up a negative, but was wondering what your opinions were at the time when we recruited Hale, Burgers and Gibbo?

I know I felt we paid overs for Hale at the time and could not really see how he would add (as I saw him as an average ruck and average forward). I am so happy to have been proved wrong. I was always happy to have got Burgers, as he was always one of my favourite non-Hawks prior to coming. I admit having doubts after the first half season and with him already having had a knee issue, but again loving it now. Gibbo was another I thought was a good pickup, if nothing else so that he did not play on Buddy!

with all respect, I hope you are wrong on JOR. I have not seen much of him and realise your more experienced watcher of the Box Hill.

Are you sure we did not put Gus on the table?

Last night was a big wake up call wasn't it?

After last night the 3 year extension to Stratton looks a very strange list management decision.

Internally the club has to ask 2 critical questions:
when do we give the kids at Box Hill a run.
how loyal do we stay to certain players approaching 30 (twilight zone of career).
