Really? I watch every game, we haven't been interested since the Freo/Sydney games. Before then? We've played Harlem globetrotter footy, and either smashed teams, or given up games we should have won.

Maybe it's the draw and playing weak teams (Richmond/port for top 2??)

Maybe it's because we've played in the last 3gf's,

Maybe it's training loads.

It doesn't matter,
The team, and all teams, need fresh enthusiastic competition for spots

Which is exactly why we should have taken the Freo/North route against Carlton in round 23. There was absolutely nothing to be gained and it was a prime opportunity to rest half the side in the lead up to a final in Perth coming off a 6 day break with a loss to the Eagles resulting in a second trip back to Perth in 2 weeks should we get through. Win last Friday night and the boys are up and about and full of confidence. Instead we are tired, sore and limping through our finals campaign. Smith does a medial and plays the following week, Gunston was under an injury cloud and now may not play again this year but was never going to miss the Eagles game.

I'm sure there was talk around these parts earlier in the year that Jed Anderson was homesick (as any of us would be at his age with 2 young kids with no family around). He is still yet to sign and it's the above that has me worried..and thinking.

If he is homesick and wants to move back "closer to family but not home" could he possibly be packaged up with another player in the Tim O'Brien mould plus our first pick this year, the suckling compo pick if it's a first or second rounder based on Suckling's contract offer) and first pick next year in a monster trade for Bennell and O'Meara???

Sounds like we are selling the farm but make no mistake Bennell and O'Meara are genuine a-graders...albeit Bennell does have his baggage.

Apparently Anderson has signed, just hasn't been announced by the club.

Hodge had a nice rest and it didn't help his performance... just sayin

I had it confirmed from my Dylan Shiel source again this week that Shiel will "definitely be at Hawthorn in 2 years time, it's already agreed on".
Bennell, O'Meara and Shiel our ins over the next 3 trade periods...I think that's midfield rebuild complete and isn't beyond the realms of possibility.

Frawley's decision making is terrible, you can't teach composure and his skill execution...below average at best.
McEvoy is serviceable but is not a great tap ruckman and isn't the agile ruck/forward we now lack post Hale. Neither should be on the untouchable list come trade period.
We brought these guys in as we were smack bang in the middle of a premiership window. We will go to 2 o'clock on the premiership clock pretty quickly based on Friday nights effort and it may be time for 1 step back for 2 steps forward.
Regardless of trading anyone out we have to find a way to stockpile first and second round picks next year rather than trade them out.
Mitchell Hibberd is the type of player we need in this years draft and should be available at our pick.

We are still in the premiership race this year but the winds are a Changin!
Chip will be fine, it's still his 1st year in our system and he has missed a chunk of footy..... He is a former all Australian and I would back him to find that form again. He has just hit his peak age bracket and wil be our backline general in 2 years

You can, its why so many of the top teams can develop players taken in the 15 -18 range to be better players than those taken in the top 10.

We just gotta beat the Melbourne out of him.
Was about to post the same thing. Frawley will be fine. The move forward was silly, he needed to stay in the backline to get used to playing with them more and more.

I have no doubt he'll come good after another pre-season with us and learning our way of playing.

And Friday was his first ever final and it was in the most hostile of environments.I suspect he will improve massively against Adelaide.

I can understand players secretly agreeing to terms with a new club 1 year in advance....but 2 years in advance? ......not so sure.
As for posters saying to put Birch up for trade....I guess that's why we have BF....to talk and speculate about what we're thinking, but I hope no-one is serious. If you know Hawthorn, you know they won't be trading him...ever!

2016 as I'd like to see it
Doc , Chips , Gibbo
Birch , Carlisle , Gus

Depth... Spang , Brand , Kiwi, Miles , Howe , ... two KPP , two utility size and one small .
No Stratts in there anywhere?

Assuming no Carlisle though, just what's currently on our menu, how do we line up? Spangher to maintain fitness and make it his own, Schoe, Kiwi ...?

So Jed (and Billy) are signed and in the bag, but not announced. Have we locked them for purposes of a trade?

Billy's a keeper, but wouldn't be too upset to see Jed go. Sure a talent, but if it helps us land a bigger fish, (a bigger bodied fish too!), then bring it on.

We need to upsize some of our contested players if we're going to continue to carry the Hillbillys.

Is this all wishful thinking of getting Bennell and O"Meara
