I tell you what, after watching the Tigers yesterday, if they aren't throwing cash at Bennell then they should just shut themselves down. Yesterday showed how much they need a bloke of Bennell's class.

Interested to see where go with trades etc.

We need a player like Bennell
It's so obvious
I really hope it happens
True, hard to argue. Would like him, though the baggage worries me.

I'm still hoping Jed will be that player, but on exposed form, Bennell has the runs on the board

I know losing the 2012 granny was a team effort (sans Sewell) but I still can't forgive that god damn trip. Happened at the end I was sitting in - can't shake that image from my mind.

It was pretty tough in 2012, but Youngy was pretty good in the 2008 Grannie.
I still love him for that.

On a more topical note, I wonder if Clinton has problems with his emails?

Too true.

I keep looking at Burgers & thinking, why the hell isn't all that class playing in the midfield more?
When ever he goes in there we look better.

Now we all assume that its the knees that keep him out of there on a regular basis, cause the line the club trot's out of, needing poise down back, just doesn't wash with me.

I'm not saying Bennell is as good as Burgers, yet.... but thats what we miss in the middle, silky class.....

Was a good servant for the club, but that little effort still makes me cringe.....
I cringe more when I think of Cyril having the ball around 50 out, in the clear & looking like he's going to have a shot, when Buddy screams at him demanding the ball. Rioli passes it to Bud, who missed the goal.

But we could go on for ever about how that game was lost

I think a similar Buddy incident damaged Josh Kennedys career with us.

Nice attempt. Time will tell won't it. All of the other mail I had re Shiel was spot on in the lead up to him re-signing so I'll continue to listen to his father....I'm sure he'd be right across what his son is doing!
I never followed up: is this the account you want as your primary?

If the club wants to add another half forward flanker on the list, get Jeremy Howe.

F*** Steve Johnson.
If Hale retires...Mark Jamer for 2 years as insurance??
Hogan will be at Hawthorn ........Hogan "Hulk" wore yellow speedos, Hogan the Melbourne variety also has brown hair. Hogan's first and last letter in his surname starts with a H and ends with N. Hawthorn also starts with a H and ends with an N.
Am I reading too much into this ? Personally I think the stars are aligning. :straining:
With the exception of dipper86's post as that was tongue in cheek, WTF is it with us recruiting ex-Demon players. Bruce and Fetta were failed experiments and Frawley is heading down the same path. And now people want Howe and Jamar.

And let's not forget we also have Clarko, Fagan, Yze and Neats on the coaching side.

Feck me. I thought we voted 'No' to the merger with Melbourne.

Re Bennell. It seems if the Hawks aren't interested in him, then Tigers or one of WA sides are going to get him! With the sides that are finished for the season, players on the move have told their clubs and where so, when there's lag time I'm thinking the sides are still involved in the finals. So, let's hope Harley doesn't nominate till our season is over. And if we beat crows I believe danger will let everyone know early next week he's going to the cats unless.........tick tock tick tock.

Is it compulsory to have lots of different accounts?

I only have one.

Is it what all the cool kids are doing these days? Am i missing out?

What's the go? You write a paragraph, then get all of your alias accounts to like the post? Is that it? Sounds great.

We must be old-fashioned, only having one account. Or one personality.
Maybe schizophrenia is the next stage in the alleged evolutionary process?

Was an end of season game - with Kennedy running at goal ponsford end and Buddy screaming for the ball so Kennedy who has a clear shot gives it.
Cant quite remeber but I think the handball was slightly behind Buddy who spilled it or did he get the shot?
Riley Milne and a few other youngins were playing that day.

I'm with you(and said the same thing 12 months ago).

He struggles with the basic skill of hand balling and is becoming even more ordinary above his head.

We also have Litherland itching for a spot.

If GWS came knocking with two picks as they did for Breust, then we'd be absolutely stupid not to look at it.

Come at me.
1) he isn't the only one struggling with basic hand balling, j Lewis especially comes to mind.

2) he has lost too much weight, and doesn't have the confidence to hit hard like he did years ago.

3) his change of direction and lateral movement is poor, a little like Frawley, just a straight line runner (possibly his knee)

And to address the overhead game, and hand balling, I think it's a massive blight on the club that individuals with glaring weaknesses show not a sceric of improvement. There is nowhere near enough individual specific skill work.

I'm going off on a tangent here, but J Lewis is one of the weakest players to set foot in the club in the weight room. And coming from certain people at the club they say it doesn't matter as he is strong on the field. Which is absolute arrogance, and totally inaccurate. He is tough and brave and will put his body on the line, but he can very rarely hold tackles and disarm opponents with ball in hand, and he can't do much to break tackles to get a handball off, he isn't strong enough. A really well schemed long term strength program could help a lot, but it's never been done to my knowledge. He won't turn into Dangerfield, but could improve a lot. It's my pet peeve the lack of individual and specific improvements. Especially with someone like Lewis who is as brave and tough as it gets.

Hopefully they aren't trying to get him with promises of big cash. Too risky. Hopefully selling him on the great club, atmosphere etc.

Its always tough to bring in a big star to replace ageing ones due to the financial strain or what you might have to give to get them in a trade.

Like most successful teams we just dont have access to the early draft picks that are more likely to produce those elite players.

As an honest question, do we have that talent already developing?

Lewis went from good to semi-elite over the last 12 months, but who has the potential to join him?

I liken Shiels to a Hannebury where he was a lower pick that doesnt have any elite athletic gifts but may have another level to his game (to which Hannebury reached this year).

Do we have anyone else that may jump up within the next year or two?

Langford?

Breust?

Im looking for the next Parker, Hannebury, Neale, Gray type that wasnt drafted high that might step up to that elite level.

Getting a gamebreaker in is important but developing our own is the key.
