So, my understanding is that the upgrade counts as our last pick and that we still have to take two more picks in the draft (i.e. total minimum of three). Is that still correct?

So, if we're going to get any others in, we really need to trade any out. Otherwise it will be the draft.

Shem is Cat B, didn't we put Kiwi on normal rookie list when we made Shem Cat B?

I dunno, I can't make sense of it, tbh...
Shem and Kurt were cat B. A team can have up to 3 cat B's.

edit; it's in the article

Rookie-listed defender Kurt Heatherley, a Category B International Rookie from New Zealand, has been upgraded to the senior list.

Watched Hardisty walk around the ground after the GF. Wasn't hanging around with anyone, didn't seem very interested in the celebrations. Took a couple of phone shots of crowd, but looked more like it was something to do.

I liked his draft video, shame he didn't do enough at vfl level and got dropped to development. Always a long shot tho.

Originally that's correct. The club did put a contract offer to him but it's reported this morning (I think by AFL.com.au) that the club has withdrawn its offer. I presume the club has learned of an offer from a rival club made to Suckling (his agent probably informed the club) and the club does not intend to lift its offer to meet the offer from the other club.
We withdrew the offer because he played the FA game, he had a average season and we decided we didn't want him at his salary offer. The money was required somewhere else - maybe to keep Shoey).

Good luck to Suckling, ex-Hawks Premiership player.

so far im glad at the work the hawks have done with the squad

out: Hale + Lake - retired, Woodward - delisted, with a clause to be rookied, Grimley + Hardisty - delisted rookies, didnt take their chance this tear, Suckling - rumoured to be wanting more than the Hawks offered, Whitecross - looking to move to Brisbane or elsewhere, with most likely Simpkin + Webster - delisted, i like the work that the HFC is doing to keep the squad strong for the future

*i'll miss Lake being a great defender and his marking being a great counter-attacking weapon
**i'll also miss Whitecross, but he feels he has to move on, to play more senior footy
