no one seems to be choosing hawthorn!! destination club no more!! Anyway, the devil is in the detail, open up cap space to keep the likes of Schooey and Jed. Happy with that.
Too hard to crack into the senior team unless you're a star or specifically targeted.

That delisted Magpie spud Ceglar hopefully will be holding up one finger next year on the podium (not the middle one - that'd be rude)
I don't think Ceglar is going to back up Ceglar when Ceglar is down, nor be put back on the rookie list, so not sure what the point is here? Depth wise we need another mature bodied ruck. It will most likely come from one of the two spots we have on rookie list available. Therefore Jamar would be in that discussion.

I can't see Jamar in any discussion. He was finished 3 years ago, and we don't go for ruckman of his age as insurance. We go for developing types who might not have reached their full potential.

It wouldn't bother me in the slightest if we didn't trade in this year. It'd a) let me get somewhat excited about the National draft for a change, b) leave more chance that Howe, Hartung, Jed, Sicily, O'Rourke, O'Brien, Langford, and c) leave a greater chance for a pounce next year with some more cap space.

Short term rookie list for a year it doesn't really matter how old they are. Jamar and similar, would have more runs on the board than the McCauleys or Pattinsons out there.

in terms of salary cap pressure, if the hawks are not feeling the pinch after 3-peating then they never will! i cant see how we would be in the market for a high profile/expensive recruit with the list we have and the success they have achieved. as a collective the playing list deserve to receive the maximum pay possible under the salary cap, not only for 2015 but also in the allocation of it for 2016 - there should be no room for anyone else. the results this list has achieved dictate that and it is thoroughly deserving. as such, the hawks wouldn't be in the position for any 'big' recruits until the current big names start to retire (hodge, burgoyne, mitchell, etc). the game they would be strategising now would be to optimise our draft position over the next 1-2 years i would have thought. it will be interesting to see how it all unfolds.
It's a perfect example of why the Hawks wanted to trade future draft picks. More than likely have targeted a couple of players already ,that father/son or academy players ,that they will need the extra points to get in next years draft.

I'll go on the record and say that I have major concerns around recruiting Yarran to our club. Whilst a lot contributors to this site will espouse the "if the clubs sees fit to go after player X, then I'll back them in" line, I think you have to differentiate from players that are solid workers and are prepared to better themselves while being mentally strong, form the players that are already near elite talents but lack application. Our record with the second lot isn't as strong as we would like to think.
Read players like Mitch Thorp, Rhan Hopper, Carl Peterson, Jarrad Bouman and last but not least Dayle Garlett. All of these players have had some level of mental application lacking in their make up and we haven't been able to turn them around so why would we be anymore confident of turning around Yarran?

Edit:
Starting to think that The Jed is falling into the second category of I can't get my sh** together as well.
Isn't a version of insanity doing the same thing over & over without change & expecting a different result... I like it BnG!

It must matter to the club, because I can't remember us ever going after a 30yr old as insurance.

Think you missed my point. I was agreeing with you Jamar would be worth exploring given the last time we gave a similar guy a go:thumbsu:

Except he's older..

Article on AFL.com, quoteing Clarkson on Hale and Lake. Said signs were there that the bodies were slowing down. If thats the case, maybe we are in the market for a ruck and kpd, rather than having internal backups

injuries concern me. If we have bad luck and lose a couple of rucks at the same time and a couple of top mids we are right back in the pack. I recall what happened when Hodge and Lewis were suspended last year. The young ones were not able to fill the gap even against GWS. I think we are in need of two more ready made players. One that in the midfield and the other in the ruck. I thought Aish would be the perfect fit for our mid but he is now very unlikely. Perhaps Clarko and co can find a Poppy type player, ready made in the reserves.

Manchester United, Sturt FC,
Gotta pick up an emergency ruckman on the rookie list. To be honest they could do worse than Ayce Cordy or Jarred Redden (Port). Some SANFL fans might agree with me that someone like Mitch Harvey (Port Magpies) is worth a rookie spot. Key Forward that practically lead their ruck division this past season.

I'd bloody love Yarran at the Hawks.

His dickhead status is overblown I reckon. Would slot straight into our best 22 and can play both ends of the ground.

Obviously a highlights package doesn't show the whole player, but he can obviously play. It would be outrageous for us to add someone of his talent on the back of 3 flags.

Jed has now been linked to the Eagles according to The Age.

The Eagles are working through options for a trade for Jack Redden from Brisbane, are interested in Hawthorn's Jed Anderson, and have to decide whether to match the free-agency bid to join Geelong by Scott Selwood.

With the club suggesting we are now wanting to give the boys at Box Hill a go I would love to Jed & JOR to be given first crack to cement a spot in the 22
