Barrett actually said the pies had up there offer to Treloar not the Giants, if the Giants had offered any where near 700,000 he would of re-signed by now.
The truth is that what Treloar's management are asking for and what the Giants are prepared to offer are poles apart.
Yeah but I think GWS already admit they can't pay their young stars what other clubs are offering. They are having to preach a Geelong/Hawthorn line that they are buying into a future great team. Whether they accept that philosophy is another matter.

I expect one at least of Coniglio, Treloar and Shiel will re-sign. If GWS manage to re-sign all 3, then their Recruitment and Contracts team deserve some pats on the back and expensive champagne. Will be huge for their club if they retain those players.

Seems like the Giants are going to have to bite the bullet and do what it takes to keep Treloar/Whitefield/Shiel/Coniglio. Once they taste a bit of success this year and more so next year, no GWS player is going to want to leave unless it's for more opportunity.
Plenty of talented players like that in their list, which I hope Wrighty and his team are focusing on, like JOR last year. Marchbank, Steele and Plowman all represent enticing prospects, who have been all but starved of first team opportunities, owing to the need to blood already starring youngsters.

If Josh Kelly wasn't signed on until the end of 2017, I'd be spruiking for us to throw everything we had at him. He looks such a quality kid. It's a really rare occurrence to have an 18-19 yo player, play his first 20 games with the consistency and spark to that of a 100-gamer.

Even a Rory Lobb wouldn't be a bad look at, to balance our ruck stocks when Hale retires. He'd arguably have equal/more opportunity than at GWS, where he is constantly behind Mumford and Phillips.

Gee, I know he's a tool, but wouldn't mind getting Carlisle into the backline with Frawley. He's 23 years old and we would be set up for the next 7-8y ears.
As long as he understands that we're recruiting him as a 25 year old that's going to be in a solid training block for 2 years until his suspension expires. And as long as he understands that he's not going to be paid well for those 2 years and we have a clause for discontinuation of the contract at the end of those 2 years if injury or form rules him out of game time.

That's a bare minimum.

Would love to have his contested mark though. Then again, maybe we can target Daniher instead- maybe he'll get frustrated after a year or so of playing in a VFL team and want out? Would need to work on his goal kicking, and is uglier than a dropped pie, but the kid can take a grab.

He wouldn't be able to handle Stratts having the better mo.

Lobbster needs to improve his rucking. A lot. He's more a forward/ruck. Actually he's entirely a forward who happens to be 2.00m tall so you throw him in the ruck.

I don't think there's a single GWS fan that expects us to keep them all. We've also got Buntine, Bugg and Wilson off contract this year.
So that's 6 with the 3 you've mentioned.
If we keep 3 of the 6 I think Gubby has done an amazing job.
Anyway I'm sure I've bored you all enough with talk of the Giants.

Cheers lads.

Nah mate, you've been pretty civil on this board. Your club kinda has been the focus of the "Trade Thread" (awkward). Don't know how civil I'd be at other clubs plotting the poaching of say a Langford or Breust (although please, plot away RE Suckling ;) )

Why can't we get Patton? GWS forward line pretty full looking.
Both boys contracted until 2017 so would cost a bit.

Don't think Patton will ever leave. He feels indebted to the club because of the way we handled him last year after he did his knee again.

Tommo, reportedly received a big offer from the Tigers last year but is settled in Sydney and duly rejected it.

Is Tomlinson any chance to be traded by GWS? Going to be surplus of talls to fit into the forward line once Patton comes back.
Pretty slim chance I would have thought. He was pretty vocal early about wanting to stay and was quick to re-sign earlier this year. He also doesn't necessarily need to fit into our forward line, given that the majority of his career so far has been to roam the outer wing as a link man, floating back when needed and only pinch hitting up forward on occasion. he has a massive tank and can run all day so the wing is where he is most effective at the moment.

the thing you have to factor into account when talking about our established stars is the fact they've been here since the very beginning. The likes of Treloar and Sheil started out when our club was a disused dance room at Rooty Hill RSL and even the guys who came along in the first draft, were travelling all over western sydney to different ovals to train. there's a great photo of the boys lined up standing in wheelie bins full of ice at Gipps Rd - they were our "ice baths". We now have a state of the art permanent training facility and are looking at on field success. These boys have done the hard yards through tough times off field and on and are liking where the club is situated now.

It's more likely you'll get a crack at those who have come after and never had to train at half a dozen ovals and who are not getting senior game time - Jono O'Rourke for example last year.

oh, and Plowman is only not getting a game because he has a dislocated elbow and is out for another 2 months, other than that, he was a settled member of the best 22, ahead of Aiden Corr.

and another thing... O'Rourke for 19 and Jed Anderson for Stephen Gillham.... You guys still owe us.;)

We gave you your current senior coach who appears to be doing a fine job so I think we are all square
