He's an agent - that's what they do. Not sure there's any "nice" agents, they're all acting in the best interests of their client. Pickers just happens to be the one that's screwed us recently, but it's not like the others are much better.

I'd want my kid to be represented by him, he's a snake - but at least i'd know the kid would be getting the best deal for himself and his future.
If I was a player I'd want a manager like Pickering.

If Aish has strong family ties to Balme that is a big hurdle for NMFC to overcome apart from the big crowds, Anzac Day, big club environment at Collingwood.

Unless that club can predict the outcome of his court case then it aint going to happen.
Well if we believe that courts set innocent people free without going into details about the girl I'm reliably informed by former Western Jets team mates " nothing to see here " .
The whole thing has been handled poorly considering at the time of illeged offence he was a minor which should of protected his identity , I'm no expert

Casley also manages out-of-contract North Melbourne forward/ruckman Majak Daw, whose future, he said, would likely be decided after the trade period.

Casley said he’d had "several chats" with North about Daw over the past month and was optimistic his client would play on at Arden Street in 2016.
Also we cannot afford to lose Majak after the trade of Currie. That will leave us threadbare with only Goldy and Pruess.

Just got to work and told by some random dude that he heard that Majak was exploring his options and had some interest from other clubs , has anybody heard this or am I right to flush this knuckleheads melon down the toilet ?
Just flush it down the toilet anyway. Who cares? At least you will have achieved more by doing that than anything achieved by the overwhelming number of posts predicting highly fanciful swaps of picks and players and what that might ultimately lead to after the draft.

This thread has very serious issues. (Or is it the posters who frequent it, me included, who have very serious issues?)

Lions soften stance on Aish with Pies to swoop

North Melbourne remains the Brisbane Lions' preference to barter a deal for wantaway midfielder James Aish, but the Queensland club is likely to push for a future second-round pick if he sticks with Collingwood as his preferred destination.

The Age reports that the Lions believe getting this year's pick 26 from the Pies would be of little value – unless it is tied to a deal for North midfielder Ryan Bastinac - given they already have points enough to match rival bids and secure academy products Eric Hipwood and Ben Keays at the draft.

The Pies are likely to receive a future second-round pick for Nathan Freeman from St Kilda, which they could then forward to the Lions.

I'm over this. If we just say hey Brisbane if you want Bastinac you give us a aish. If that doesn't happen there is no trade.

We should be the ones playing hardball here.

The papers have been wrong a lot, but it's always been most likely Aish will go to Collingwood unless he changes his mind, no matter what the Lions prefer. Our recruiters have attacked this trade period with an open mind and lots of flexibility so I'm sure they have next moves in mind.

It's not about hard or soft ball. Can we get something for trading Basti that's of more value to us than he is? Do the trade.

And do what with it? With a shallow draft what are we going to get, At this stage we have no back-up ruckman & losing Basti will hurt our depth. So far it hasn't been a great trade period for us IMO.

I'm resigned to the fact that Basti will be at Brisbane next year and good luck to him even though it will be painful if he reaches his potential with another club.

What I'd hate to see is nmfc in any way facilitating aish to Collingwood - we're targeting him and we should not be assisting one of our identified targets get to an opposition club.

If Collingwood get Aish it's to be without our assistance and North needs to be fairly compensated for Basti - that means at least a late teens or early 20s pick.

Do we actually know what Lewis and Joyce's views on the draft are? They may be dead keen on a few blokes im the mid range.

As for a back up ruck, we got Currie with 56 a few years ago. Solid state league rucks should be around.

Recruiting team has watched every player available to draft and will have a good idea of where players of interest are likely to be available. Happy to let them decide the worth of picks rather than guess. And everyone's entitled to their opinion, but if we come out of trading with everyone we want to keep still on the list, and players and picks to get players the club wants, that's a good trade period to me.

I agree with this line, however 26 is not more value on our list than Basti IMO which is why we should keep him unless we get overs.

Some opposition fans seem to equate - Didn't play finals/Meeting Brisbane = no good and shopping him around.

Im reasonably confident this process has been under two way mutual respect for both club and player, if it doesn't suit North, he stays. His game tally this year would indicate he's far from 'rotting in the twos'.

Conversely I think Black is that far gone, and despite being contracted as well, best interests to move him on if someone takes his contract, wouldnt care if it was for a 100th round pick.

Basti on the other hand is worth persisting with.

Hey roos_fanatic08 , Have you heard much more about Black & Sydney?
Did you see my post yesterday giantroo ?

Sydney I don't think are all that keen as they weren't really impressed with Black's attitude. I think he will be at north next year, as I don't see Freo having the picks to get it done. His suitors are dwindling at a rapid rate.

If Basti and someone else goes and we get a few picks inside the top 35, then I could still see us and Sydney making a play to get Black up their and their first to us with a few picks on the merry go round. I think it will be highly unlikely though.

Our hand was forced with Greenwood being uncontracted, that was our own doing, so we really didnt have a choice in the end.
It's similar with this situation in that if we don't get Aish, the lions available picks might force us only to get 26. Yes we can hold onto Basti, but if he really wants to go, the club may accept a lesser pick.
