But it is understood the Dockers have also done some preliminary work on the possibility of a trade deal for North Melbourne’s Aaron Black, who like McCarthy is under contract but is believed to be keen to return home.

Black, 24, kicked 33 goals as a 22-year-old for North in 2013 but has had injury and form issues since and played just three games in 2015 for one goal after the recruitment of Jarrad Waite from Carlton.

Nathan Freeman is indeed headed to St Kilda. The Magpies will get St Kilda's second round pick in the 2016 draft and selection 63 this year in exchange for Freeman and pick 68 this year.
This values Freeman a lower than Anderson.

Both highly rated talents in their draft year and allowing for slight age difference and lost year(s) to injury they're roughly equivalent.

Interested in the thoughts of one of the draft watchers re the disparity.

Simple for Freo, just give us what they were going to give the GWS Pantries.

The West Australian is now reporting that Black is now back on Freo's radar.

North know Freo's position and will not give him up for anything less than Pick 22 methinks.

Dockers are well and truly screwed by their lousy list management strategy of the past 6 years. As I said in another thread how they passed up the likes of Lever, Hugh Goddard and co for another skinny midfielder I will never fathom.
Freo wouldn't Have anything else of value to trade for Black, unless a player was involved

Greenwood is gunna rot in the Collingwood 2's now. Poor bugger got hoodwinked by bucks and Pickering.
Levi knew exactly what his was doing. He looked a gift horse in the mouth and passed.
He could have played in three finals this year and chose to take the money.

Can we just get this done.

I can't believe all the oxygen expended on James Aish.

Yes has talent, but also has question marks.

Let's take a nice pick for Basti and package it up for an upgrade and go to the draft and get ourselves a player.

We have time to develop some talent before our older brigade retire, so I'm not against hitting the draft.

Aish is not a deal breaker for future success, merely a nice to have. Pick 20 whatever has just as much chance of being a player, than some of these overrated kiddies with a self entitlement complex.

Might have done us a favour by leaving. Our midfield was better organised by the end of this year than it ever was. Put that side up against * in 2014 and they would have belted them by 50.

Problem is it won't be a nice pick, what are we going to get for pick 26-35. Yes Basti is lethargic at times but he did provide good depth and played some good games. Pick whatever won't provide that for at least 3 years on our past record of playing draftees. Bmac as a backup for Bastis backup is like allowing the village idiot to be in charge of the militia.

Interesting use of the term gift horse.

We offered something like 3X350k

= 1.05m

Collingwood offered
4x450k

= 1.8m

Moving to collingwood was an extra year of security +$750k

Given the amount of top end draft picks that they are pushing into their side, Levi is probably likely to spend stints in the seconds.

There is your gift horse.

I see similarities between the early years of Aish and Basti, so who is to say that Aish won't drop off like Basti has?

Let's get in a kid who wants to play and earn the right to be on an AFL list, not trade for one who feels he is owed the right to pick and choose without earning his stripes.

James Aish could be that shiny new toy from China that breaks after a week of use.

Shirley you cannot be serious. We're talking about full-time professional sports people here, who typically are competitive beasts. I'd be willing to bet that if Aish makes his way into the beloved Royal Blue and White jumper that he'll give 100% effort. No-one wants to rock up and play VFL, irrespective of what they are being paid.
Agreed. All must be competitive to a point to make it to AFL level.

But I disagree with you that all are 'competitive beasts'. They may all be competitive, but not all are competitive beasts.

No doubt, Aish would be fantastic for us in he skills department. But his heads not in it.

He doesn't have the desire to be at North.

Skill with no desire is useless.

We are a proud club, with proud players.

Tarrent could of run when his contract was up and taken more money and played for a bigger club, but he stayed because he loves the club.

Compare the way Tarrent went about it to how Aish is currently.

Its kind of like trying to convince a girl who told you that she doesn't love you that you love her.

**** that....
