This is so funny, Collingwood will be asking for a future 2nd rounder as part of the Treloar deal and GWS will be holding them over a barrel.

I can see Treloar costing the Pies a pretty penny if they are intent on getting Aish in as well?

The only reason Collingwood want the video leak investigated is they know they have pissed GWS off and are trying to deflect.

i'd prefer https://www.draftguru.com.au/pick-value-calculator#17,26,|Bastinac,38,40,53,73 and think it is still extremely fair for Brisbane and we end up with some reasonable pick to take to the draft, we could probably throw in 73 as well still unsure about the question I asked last night about

North:
Out: Bastinac, 38, 40, 53, 73
In: 17, 26

Bris:
Out Aish, 17
In: Bastinac, 38, 40, 53, 73 Saints 2016 2nd

Pies:
Out: 26, Saints 2016 2nd
In: Aish

this sends us to the draft with 17, 26 and 34, and with Jed in our back pocket already.

I still think Collingwood should be giving more for Aish, but as more good friend Royal Flush says "Collingwood is a prime example of a club looking down the barrel of mediocrity, and pulling itself out of it with a high performance culture of accountability" and finishing 12 in 2015.. so I suppose that is reason enough for them not to have to add more.
Hope we dont trade pick 53 thats a good selection in this draft I think.

Agree but again it comes down to trading from a pure list management perspective to trading with an eye to gaining maximum market value perspective.

It's not a disastrous net result but retaining pick 38 in the deal would've felt more balanced in the relative worths of both players as it stands.
Can't really call it a "result", as nothing has happened!

Whilst I've had a soft spot for Basti watching him develop over the years, I'm not sure he'll ever be an elite midfielder.
Rather we get in someone like Anderson and hopefully a decent young gun with pick 17 and look to the future.
But of course wishing Basti luck for his future, hope he plays out another 100 games and makes a good career out of it.

Before points system come along, you'd probably combine 38 and 40 for about pick 30 in a straight swap of picks?

So basti's value in the deal is taking the usual return of pick 30 for 38 + 40, and turning that into 17.

Or another way to look at it, wellingham got the pies pick 17 on his own, we are gifting them 38+40 for free.

I don't ******* know anymore

But guys remember we are getting rid of a surplus guy for pick 62, but we are really getting pick 17 for him because the points don't count, but actually to Brisbane they do count as they will get academy players. In the context of value of points we are getting reamed.

Pick 17 = 1025 points

Pick 38 & 40 = 894 points

Bastinac = 131 points (pick 62)?

Seems like a shit deal.
This is where the points thing is a crock of shit. The likelihood of finding a good player at 17 is 5 times greater than 38 or 40.

We'd keep 34 in this deal. I reckon it's about fair.

2 2nd rounders for Aish is highway robbery!

Surely they have to come up with more than that.
Surely Pickering can see that and realize that his client will end up in limbo unless he changes his mind. No point pushing for Collingwood trade if they aren't likely to satisfy Brisbane which is now clear.

Question..
Is Jack Redden that much of a better player than Basti, that we have to help Brissie out and give them 38 and 40 as well?
I would have thought they were similar value wise.

I can't see Aish coming to North now, I think this will be taken as a move to prevent him getting to where he wants.

This makes me think we have given up on Aish and are playing with Collingwood because we can.
