agree with moti and passmore on this one, points mean nothing to us, we are in effect getting Anderson for basti for a first round downgrade of a couple of picks IMO,
the only metric to measure this is if anderson reaches his ceiling which is considered by some to be greater than bastis.
This. If you'd told me before trade week we could do that trade (plus the cap space that it opens up - where Basti would be on >$ than Anderson) - I think most of us would have been happy. It's important to look at trade week in totality, and in totality we've improved the list in an area of weakness, haven't hurt our draft position, and saved some cap space, whilst not pissing off other teams by being completely unreasonable - which can be beneficial in future trade agreements.

Tick. Move on.

I'm really enjoying that GWS hold the whip hand in all of Collingwood's negotiations now. They could easily deny the Pies a 2016 2nd rounder, so unless they've got something up their sleeve the Aish deal won't get done :D

This nominating what team you want to go to has to stop as well, you can name your state thats it.

How does everyone naming collingwood or the big club help the equalisation of the league, it doesnt, it hurts it. Then collingwood play hard ball and dont deal and get them for free in the PSD lol. the system is so broken.

I thought the deadline was Thursday?
Once again, points mean nothing to us. It is the chance to get a 1st round player over a late 2nd round player.
Well, the points do make it easier to to certain kinds of trades with academy clubs, which has the effect of making it easier for non-academy clubs to trade up into the first round. They also have the effect of bumping 2nd and 3rd round picks up as academy pick bundles eliminate picks.

From our POV trading back in to the first round gives us more flexibility in 2016 since we aren't constrained by not having had one this year.

But you're right, the picks eventually have to land somewhere and get used at which point the points mean SFA.

I suspect this was an unintended consequence of the points system when they came up with it, but I kinda like it.

I can't see Aish coming to North now, I think this will be taken as a move to prevent him getting to where he wants.

This makes me think we have given up on Aish and are playing with Collingwood because we can.
Every cloud has a silver lining.

Or we can say we are doing young (read floggish) Aish a good turn. We are trying to prevent him from making the same mistake FIGJAM made; choosing Collignwood over North. How did that work out for you Naafan?

Just wanted to come here and say well done on swapping out your 1st rounder for Anderson, then getting back a near-identical 1st rounder for Bastinac.

Clearly the plan with Anderson is to have him quickly exceed Bastinac's best - and I'd have to say that will happen (which is not a slight on Bastinac - Jed is a gun).

The top clubs need to get 1 or 2 big names (whether trade or draft) while the lesser clubs need numbers to rebuild. So I'd say both Brisbane and the Roos did well this trade.

Cheers all.

I am at work so haven't had a chance to watch the "hacked then leaked" Treloar video. Probably won't bother.
Out of interest, did it include footage of Collingwood officials slipping him quietly into a an operating theatre without the GWS's knowledge?
It did show his girlfriend signing a document. I assume she will be a weather girl at Channel 9 next year.

Regardless of outcome Pies look pretty bad in all of this.

2 big trades they need to get done and they're not even there negotiating.

Literally 24hrs left on the clock and they're dragging their heels lol.
