He can't be that bad. He plays good footy when he's out there. It's not as if he has a terrible approach to his footy. From what I understand he is actually one of the better trainers at the club and has torn it up over the last 2 pre-seasons only to be let down by recurring calf injuries.

He has probably always been a guy that is prone to going down the wrong path if the opportunity presents itself. The club would have known that when they took him on back in 2010. Without a group of strong and imposing leaders a guy like him was always going to go off course from time to time. I think the club is partially responsible for his indiscretions as they would have known what they were taking on when they drafted him but haven't seemed to be able implement the necessary system to ensure that he develops to the level that they would have hoped.

Obviously the large majority of the blame falls on him as he is an adult and yet is still acting like a young kid, but not everyone is created equally in their ability to be naturally disciplined; not every player has the same exemplary professional approach as Jaeger O'Meara; and not every person matures at the same rate and is the spitting image of what being the exemplary 22 year old male is. It is a case of nurture vs. nature, and considering the way he was raised it was always going to be a little bit different if he wasn't provided with the perfect environment.

I think you will be just giving into public pressure and expectation if you get rid of him. The media just wants another story to write about over the non-eventful off-season, that's why they're riding this one so hard; hoping that they can get the opportunity to cover such a scandalous story. I'm sure they would be gushing at the opportunity of being able to include the line "the disgraced drug user who made front page headlines earlier in the year" as many times as possible in an attempt to make their reporting as sensational as possible.

I think you guys will lament this in years to come as he is every chance to end up as good as Andrew McLeod once he gets his head in the game. If you want to get rid of someone, get rid of Trent McKenzie, that blokes on-field approach to his footy is absolutely pathetic and disgraceful.

I hope for Harley's sake and welfare that he does go to a place like Geelong or Hawthorn where there is a strong culture in place.

If not those 2 then maybe it is Melbourne with its indigenous group for Howe and a pick?

Terribly sad day!
Hawks Culture? Unsociable on and off the field. They think a coach punching someone, a player hitting someones head into the goal post, drink driving in the week leading up to finals are Ok. No way. Not the Hawks.

We picked up Hallahan from the Hawks last year - hard at it instilled in him and not a single peep about him off field all year. Worked really hard and was a valuable addition.

Hodge has his own set of issues to deal with and they are not isolated to the two matters you mentioned.

As far as Clarko and the Power supporter, if the supporter was Bennell he would have been arrested. The supporter was being a "public nuisance" while Bennell slapped a ciggie out of a bouncers hand.

As well? Zero chance - Also I don't really think any of our players are up for trade?
why'd you ask what else we would want if your players are supposedly not up for trade?

as for kolo, no idea why we didn't pick him. went with jack leslie instead, who in time could be a decent defender. i think we just want him the same way north want david swallow. both good players and the "dream" of brothers playing together makes it appealing haha.

how much cap space would lewis jetta take up? only 26, in that age bracket that rocket mentioned. already developed, readymade replacement for bennell.

thoughts?
I watched Jetta this year he runs up and down the opposite wing
Won't go near a contested possession
Bennell was just as good inside as outside
Jetta is more Matt Shaw on peptides

I reckon Clayton will have a semi-hard on from now until trades week.

The trade possibilities are going to be endless.
I don't think Scottys done enough HW to prepare him for all this
Was probably thinking 3 picks max for the whole draft.
Now all the sudden needs to find use for 3 top 10 picks etc

Rocket won't be in a good mood.
The key is to talk Bennell up.
Not talk him down.
Top 5 player in the comp on his day
6 goals and 27 touches against Geelong his best.
Think value!!!

Is anyone else worried our next big thing Jack Martin is always half a step away from being the headline.
Every time something Happens, Martin was there, the club backs him in.
His drinking at the hotel in Tasmania. All you ever heard was Dixon this. Dixon that.
Martin was at the cocain binge golf day last year too.
Martin with Harlely last night when arrested.

We used pick 2 on this kid. And to date. I'm not impressed!
