Ross did telegraph Weller a couple of weeks ago by mentioning his name in an interview. Thats usually an indication a player is getting close to selection.
Please please please. Weller is exactly the kind of class we need to come up to the Hawks level of moving the ball.

Lol got a bad feeling about this. The initial mention of him training with the group was asking for confirmation. We're not 100% it was even him.

Brace your butts for potential hurt.

Love the way Lachie is always so chilled after he kicks them.

I hope we see him matched up on Sam Mitchell at some stage this weekend given Mitchell is who he's most oft compared to. Am preparing my butt already for the hurt headed its way btw, in my mind Weller to debut as sub is a sure thing. It just makes perfect sense, it's Tasmania and we need an extra weapon to combat the Hawks. He's ready to be unleashed.

I remember him saying something along the lines he wanted a sub who was quick, but his hands were tied as Hill and Pearce were needed for the entire game. This was probably 4-5 weeks ago.

Yeah it does all make sense that Weller could have a gig this weekend but it would also seem a bit odd to leave him out until now.
I would've thought that we have been playing the squad RTB has been keen to take on the Hawks for the last month or so. It would make sense given Gu hasn't been given a shot.

I guess we'll all know pretty soon one way or the other.

I think we should start Fyfe in the forward line. Barlow, Mundy, Neale and MDB should be able to get the ball in the midfield. Fyfe would put serious pressure on the Hawks backline w/ Pav and the little fellas down there.
Just have Mayne fly into the centre bounce from the 50.

Good Point, Gu might come in to lock down Smith. He played against the Suns.

Lets not from start give away our one strong advantage contested ball winner by placing him in forward line.

Lets start him in the middle to be honest. Put our best ball extractors and players in the middle, delivery into forward line is critical as lake always bloody beats us to the punch.

Maybe time for whoever lake plays on to be used as a decoy.

On Weller I'm hoping he gets his chance and it may be that there is question marks over Hill or D Pearce? Would make sense as he is the closest like for like in the outside runner role.

More likely he heads over as an emergency though I would think.

Unless Sherro to come out and Hill to start on the HB line? Or Weller to sub and flick the switch later maybe.

Was definitely Weller training with the main group, just basically asking if they telegraph that far out!

Not really. You have to earn you place, prove you are buying in which can only come through repeated effort at the required level. There is the matter of conditioning, making 100% sure he's fit enough and ready to go. Plus giving the incumbents and more senior reserves like Sheridan a chance to press their claim.
Lastly there is the fact that we have played in some very tough conditions, it makes sense to use hardened bodies in low skill slogs in the wet. Hopefully Weller gets a chance to play as sub in fine (albeit cold) conditions against a team where the highest skill levels are required.
Thats my fantasy and I'm sticking to it!

Yeah, absolutely. We must, must, control the middle against the Hawks because if we don't, with their exceptional spread and scoring power, the game will be over in less than a quarter if we aren't on the up in the middle.

Later in the game, depending on how things go, for sure, you mix it up, but I reckon you put you biggest effort in locking down the middle and then work it out from there.

Went down to Fremantle Oval this morning for a gander at the training session. Fairly light session today, with lots of practice shots on goal. It was raining and cold early before the sun came out which would have been good practice for Tassie. Kept my eye on a couple of different players. I think A Pearce will get better with each game he plays. He has a great pair of hands and as I've said before, very silky. He's a real diamond.
Ibbo was kicking beautifully today, nailing every target. As was Mundy who has just an exquisite kick.
I don't think there will be too many changes. Mzungu and Sutcliffe probably seem the most likely to come into the side if there are any changes at all but I don't know who they would replace. If it's wet , which by all reports it is going to be , probably Taberner out, but who knows. The selection committee have a few headaches which I'm thinking is a good problem to have.
They all looked lively out there today. Watched Neale taking a few snap shots at goal and nailing them like he did against the Hawks in Tassie. I'm guessing it's going to be a really close game and the Dockers will take it right up to Hawthorn. They look ready and primed.

Apparently Silvagni was training with the main group today. He'd have to be WAFL bound next week, you'd think.

Yep Snos was out there doing just about everything. His running intensity was not quite as intense as the others but he looks in great nick and obviously not far off. I think he'll be ready possibly next week for a wafl return.
Dawson looks in great shape. He's still not using his right has and it's still strapped but doing everything else.

It's going to be hard pulling APearce out of that backline.

It will, but on the flip side he was never going to play at all this year provided every one was fit, which they weren't so it's great to get a handful of games into him. It will do him wonders coming into season 2016.
