I think in time Bouchard will start seriously challenging for slams. She's had a tough year results wise, but I think this will be the making of her. I really want Kerber to win one at some stage too.

Not a chance unless she develops a Plan B, and Kerber is less chance than her. Problem with Bouchard is the 'see ball, hit ball' is not sustainable. Her serve is horrific too, no variety and very inconsistent and her 2nd serve is close to the worst on tour. Kerber is just solid, but nothing more, solid rarely cuts it, would need a lot of luck.

Halep is the next number 1.

Laughable...but probably.

Still feel Azarenka will spend more time there than Halep. Halep is just another Wozniaki (very, very solid but nothing more), nothing wrong with it and she might jag a Slam in a transitional era, but it won't be more than 1-2 unless she gets a lot of luck.

Kerber is my favourite female player, and although it's highly unlikely, I really would love for her to somehow sneak a major in the next few years. Started following her career closely after Dementieva retired.

If Kvitova can overcome her injuries and health concerns (she was battling one at the US Open), then I think she possesses all the power and weapons to consistently compete for and win slams. She's fantastic at Wimbledon, and theoretically the sheer pace of the hard surfaces should suit her game really well. Clay is her weakest surface.

Kerber is solid no doubt, questionable whether she has the weapons though, and it is very rare for a grinder to 'grind' their way to a Slam. Wozniaki actually looks more likely now as she has added more variety and power to her game, she tries to hit through the court a bit more. That is the issue with Kerber, sitting back and hoping for errors, rarely will work, you have to go out there to WIN...not to play to 'not lose'

Petra is weird, you would look at her game and say 'yep she is the one' however if you know her medical issues you would know why she struggles in Australia and the US especially. She is a lug on the clay. She needs a Slam in cooler conditions as she struggles in the heat a lot of the time, she actually has said this herself in a number of interviews. She has been better at this in the last year or so, but playing 7 matches (the number to win a Slam) in the heat can be a push. The hot days tend to coincide with her error fests as she tries to hit the other girl off the court. No coicidence that at Wimbledon in a relatively mild climate she does well. The courts help but the weather helps more. She would need to help for a cool American or Australian summer.

If you saw their mixed doubles...well um...

Yeah plenty of comments from fans after 'nice 1st round...I mean date' and well 'looking forward to their 2nd round...um date'

Yes, I saw the highlights lol But the 2nd round/date never happened.

There was a lot of flirting lol..I recon they will play together in doubles for a while (both on and off the court lol)!

Wawrinka used the same tactic against Anderson at times in the previous round. At least Federer is intelligent and uses it against players who don't have the ability to send down thunderous serves...

Personally I don't like it. It's a risky gimmick that backfires more than it assists. Still hoping to see Federer move through to the final and win the whole tournament.

Why is it a gimmick? It's a tactic that worked for him that final against Djokovic in Cincy. he'll used when needed, like any other tatcic.

Tips for tomorrow:
Halep in 2
Serena in 2
Djokovic in 5
Fed in 3

Because it gets him into more trouble than it assists him, I said that. It's not a viable long-term tactic and whilst it takes skill, it also needs a lot of luck in order for it to be effective.

He used it against Gasquet, it failed on all three occasions, and it threatened to take away his concentration. As far as tactics go, it's a gimmick and something that Federer will only pull out a few times a match.

If Novak flops 2 sets against Cilic he should give up!
