That was good for Tomic, will be a better player from those sort of wins. Good on Hewitt for not giving up. Enjoyed that match.

I hated it...was going to cost me a multi...and that was after backing a few roughies. Picked Muguruza to lose.

Are there any other sports where there are completely different rules at one major tournament compared to the rest? I mean soccer screwed around with golden goal etc and maybe the world cup had different rules on something like that compared to champions league or euros or whatever for a stretch of time
but it is really strange the ITF ever let it through.

On a side note...does anyone else hate these 3rd set tie breakers/5th set tie breakers..FMD what a typically rubbish way to end a match!

Especially when the Olympics, Davis Cup, Fed Cup & the 3 other slams play the final set to advantage. In fact, all 5 events at Wimbledon are advantage final sets. It's the reason why the US open is my least favourite slam. Gotta change it!

Hopefully a replay of the Hewitt/Tomic epic on Fox Sports tonight?

Typical US thinking they have to do something different. It is a rubbish way to end a match

I agree man, you can essentially win a match without ever breaking serve, which is bullshit. They should let them battle it out in the last set. Like Federer v Roddick 2009 wimbledon final, 16-14 in the 5th set! Fuarrrkkk that was crazy!

Nadal's finals have done that too, I hate tie breakers, one fluke let chord and you win the match...it is pure luck.

The Federer - Del Potro Olympics semi final was epic too. 19-17! And the list could on with all those memorable final set battles to the bitter end, over the years. I wish the ITF would make a stand and get this tie-breaker rule canned once and for all.

I was at that match, it was amazing, although I feel like it cost Federer in the final with a bit of fatigue.

The TB to end a 5 set epic is terrible. Stupid, stupid rule.

Yup! there's so many matches in 5th that have gone the distance, It's amazing how these guys are able to push themselves to the limit..but I don't think it will every be canned for every set though.. :( but I can see it maybe changing at the US OPEN(just the 5th set).
