Halep will be competitive but yeah agree Pennetta will basically be a training session for Serena in the final

Competitive for a set maybe, seriously could this Slam be any worse on the women's side?

It's frustrating, women's tennis is so inconsistent (unless you are Serena)

People bag Sharapova and yes she gets flogged by Serena but her loss before the tournament was massive

Yeah, she'd had Graf's measure up to that point in head to head matches hadn't she? One of the real sporting tragedies.

Yes, she was the only one who could beat Graf, and was stabbed during her peak. It's a shame. I think Seles did change the women's game.

Is Serena that good that no one comes close to her, or are the other players average when it comes to Grand Slams.

Bit of A and a bit of B. Azarenka taking time off when she was challenging 3 years ago hasn't helped, Sharapova's injuries. Still maintain we will never know how good Maria could have been, still been a very good player but injury free you are probably talking 10+ Slams.

Then the chasing pack are just not that good. Kvitova plays well for 2 weeks a year in Wimbledon, Lisiki the same...Who else is there?

Wozniacki lol

But I don't see anyone coming close, maybe Halep. Azarenka could've challenged Serena but like you said taking time off didn't help

Halep is only just solid it sort of magnifies the issue. She is never more than that. Unfortunately there isn't the depth. Even the ones coming through who is there? Keys maybe but jeez

Keys? I am not convinced about her yet, she's good but at Grand Slam level..not sure.

I can't think of any upcoming young female tennis players, none stand out to me.

Can't think of anyone else and that is sort of the issue.

Good old rain delays again.
Rejig of the schedule now with two womens semis on from 11am am then the mens ais from 5pm.

Apparently there is some talk of more rain coming and the mens final will be pushed back until Monday (Tuesday our time)

I think in time Bouchard will start seriously challenging for slams. She's had a tough year results wise, but I think this will be the making of her. I really want Kerber to win one at some stage too.

The US Open has a history of being affected by rain delays at the pointy end. You would have thought they'd have put a ****ing roof on Arthur Ashe by now.

Edit: Just looked it up and they're building a retractable roof for the 2016 Open and beyond. Bout time.

When she first came onto the scene I had her picked as the next big slam challenger in the women's game.
