Yep .... and Walkers mark was only the second best that year ...

Any panel members the same?

What about the RS panel?

Sensing there may be a pattern here somewhere

Cripps should be AA captain if Selwood is getting the nod, given Cripps smashed him in every relevant category (other than being in a successful team).

But as we all know, Cripps didn't even make the squad.

I knew Doc or Simmo would miss, you could tell that the narrative had shifted in the last few weeks. Cannot believe that AA selection has largely become contingent on being in a successful team, what an absolute joke.

Zach Merrett and Lachie Neale other obvious examples of this ridiculous fanboi mentality.

What chance do the blues have with KB & Darcy on the panel !!
We have absolutely no chance whatsoever with that panel the way it is!

The AFL has yet again gone the easy route and picked the players from the big teams.

Corey Enright please.....

Cripps still the best clearance mid in the league and didn't get in the 40.

Micky mouse award, awarded by Mickey Mouse men.......
you forgot to mention the Mickey Mouse league...

The one clear thing from looking at the team is that the standard required to make it is very different for well known players from top 8 sides vs the rest.

Kade Simpson and Sam Docherty both had better years than Selwood, Enright and Boyd, just to name a few! What a joke!
and Jeremy McGovern. I got no problem with Rampe in the backline and the two key defenders. No question they had seasons worthy like Simpson and Docherty. I saw enough of Eagles and Dogs games to know McGovern and Boyd have no right being picked as players to be used in backline ahead of Simpson. I'm less sure about Enright and Shaw as not seen enough of their games this year but they are usually quality players. Just no way both of McGovern and Boyd make 22 ahead of those two stellar half backers we had all year.
Darcy is a complete and utter knob that should be nowhere near a selection panel of something this important.

Simpson and Doc had better seasons then Enright and Shaw, but they get the nod due to reputation and teams finishing positions.

Also kind of annoying because while Doc has time on his side, it might have been the last chance Simmo had to get a well deserved honour like that.

Then again it's so compromised I guess it's debatable if it's much of an honour anymore. But you get my drift.

Exactly. If an AA selector is basing his selections of team performance he has no business being there. It is constantly Darcy making excuses for shafting a Carlton player.

Well Mr Darcy, these are Docs stats for the first 11 games and the last 11 games.

Disposals:

First 11 - 270 @ 24.54
Last 11 - 296 @ 26.90

Rebound 50:

First 11 - 55 @ 5.00
Last 11 - 64 @ 5.82

Marks:

First 11 - 88 @ 8.00
Last 11 - 85 @ 7.72

Inside 50:

First 11 - 23 @ 2.09
Last 11 - 22 @ 2.00

Clearances:

First 11 - 3 total
Last 11 - 10 total

Bounces:

First 11 - 5 total
Last 11 - 18 total

Tackles

First 11 - 30 total
Last 11 - 27 total

Yeah he fell away in the second half of the year, ya ******.

Might have to email these stat into the big headed AFL puppet

Not really surprised, the selection committee are all AFL puppets and in their eyes the AFL can do no wrong.

Only four players selected out of the bottom 8, some of the reasoning for selection is just ridiculous and for anyone to say Simmo is a Seagull obviously has NFI. He would walk into any side!

Some players names on the white board are written in permanent marker and are selected for their flash in the pan skills and not overall consistency. Some of the players selected in the 40 require good players around them to make them shine, but guys who do it tough seem to still get the bum steer.

I yearn for the day that these awards are handed out on merit of performance rather than reputation or the team the players represent.

Until that day comes 'awards' like AA selection and the Rising Star are all but meaningless.

4 players were named from teams who finished outside the 8 and I can't mount an argument for them not being there. Given the above it's no surprise that Doc and Simpson both missed out.

Enright had a great year and Shaw had a great year. At the end of the day it's just someone's opinion.

We know internally how highly rated Doc and Simmo are and they'll be both finish high in our BnF.

In the absence of State of Origin and a decent pre-season comp, why don't the AA and AA-reserves have a game-off 2 weeks before the start of the season during Grand Prix weekend?

You'd fill Etihad easily.

Forget those maggoty AFL players association reps complaining about potential injuries and a long season - what would they know? :p
