Beech is doing all that would be expected of him. Clearly a very handy forward/utility.

Given our AFL team structure atm, I'd like to see him given a couple of weeks across half back to see if he can be an upgrade on any of our defenders. Tough as nails, awesome overhead.

I also reckon we should give Gore a mid/defence rotation in games so we can also see him back there.
Beech is very good kicking on both sides too would be looking to upgrade soon we get another upgrade mid year don't we? And then we can have both ROB and Beech on the list for rest of the year

Keath - first game in 6 yrs take every negative you saw with a grain of salt and give him 6 weeks to show his weaknesses
He will get used to the level remember he has come from no footy for 6 yrs and then come straight into SANFL league footy snagged 16 touches and done a lot of good things. He will learn and review and will get better with every game. At the end of the year and a full preseason under his belt look out

BEST
Adelaide:
Beech, Keath, Greenwood, Gore, Henderson, Otten

Top 3 all rookies :)

Gee, most of our rookies are very good, great game by them today. Greenwood was fantastic.

Hendo, he must think the 10m rule applies all game, he doesn't get close to anyone.

Don't tell me Otto is coaching Hunter 'how to kick'. Both had plenty of floaters today

Gore is starting to get some consistency and playing well.

Was hoping Knight would be doing more in sanfl

Thought Grigg did lots of nice work.

Spencely impresses me every time I see him, could have kicked 5 goals today

I wasn't knocking the bloke in his 1st outing for six years--just saying that he has obvious things to work on.
He and Greenwood could well be in the 1s this time next year. If so, what sort of bonus should we pay our recruiting staff? Terrific stuff to keep track of a couple of champion juniors that went to other sports and then nail them when they want to return to AFL.
We have an embarrassment of riches at present. Must be tough to be a selector.

Keath looks a natural. More so than Greenwood who looks to have a bit more freakish quality.
He was Very polished considering time out of the game from what I saw. Having never seen him play cricket I'm left wondering what his major flaw was in that sport, as I picture him having great technique.
Temperament perhaps? Seems a very calm and steady footballer already so I doubt that.

Greenwood looks the goods and based on what he's shown so far looks set for an AFL career. Great hands, quick decisions, good skills. Keath has a way to go and not surprised by that. Beaten one on one a few times and looked as though he doesn't anticipate where the ball will come in all that well. Early days. May well turn out a trump.
Agree Greenwood and Keith probably the two best Cat B Rookies the clubs ever had .......Best Free Hit we've had now that Father / Son Free Hit has disappeared

Compared to his first game and yesterday Greenwoods improvement is amazing ......particularly in close and his hands

I think he's a much better footballer personally but obviously loves the game of cricket

Just a few thoughts. IMO Gore should be next in line for an AFL game in the midfield. Looks ahead of CEY in every aspect of the game.

Don't know if it was the head knock but Menzel was very lackadaisical with the footy. Looked like SANFL is too easy for him. We need to try to find a spot for him in the firsts soon.

Greenwood showed some terrific signs. If he'd been more single minded around goals he could've kicked 6. Not sure he will get away with the dinky kicks and handballs he seems to love at AFL level.

Keath was the exciting one today. You can see why we were patient with him. Good size, strong overhead, lightning quick, laser of a left boot. There's a lot to like - I think we've got one here.

Agree with all bar Hendo - he was playing wing and if he pushes back to help out and reads the play so well he racks up uncontested possessions how is that a bad thing! Maybe the opposition should pick him up :p I just find that criticism a little bizarre.

Having said that he was a little off and not quite ready but definitely AFL quality and will be back within the month.

He trotts towards a contest when he should be committing hard to apply body pressure. It was the bad Hendo back again and I was very disappointed to see it considering the game against Westies where he wasn't shirking any contests.

He is a class above. Played one out up forward for the majority and would be just as good doing it at AFL level i reckon.
He's absolutely proven he's top level SANFL forward and floating utility.

Any Westies out there…have you seen Beech play as a defender and how has he gone?

Andy Otten contact with an umpire? Anyone see that?
Oh yes, he pushed an ump in the back to get him out of the way so he could get to Sumner who had hit him high and hard after disposal. Otten was ropeable about the hit he had received, but I thought he would get in trouble for touching the umpire, even considering the circumstances. I think the umpire didn't reverse the free and the 25m penalty because he understood the circumstances. Took quite a bit to calm Otten down.

Yes, i did, it was just to the left of me - he pushed the umpire out of the way (he was looking at him, he may not have even known it was an umpire) to remonstrate with Sumner after being king-hit, then gave him a love-tap in the throat; Kelly was giving Sumner mouthfuls too.

Greenwood and Keith were nothing short of amazing.

Keith first contest we saw him hit - he just committed so hard and killed it. Huge unit and long left kick, is obviously a competitive animal. You could throw him in the senior side and he wouldn't let you down. What was he doing playing cricket! We have a gem here i was shocked with how well he played.

Greenwood has just stepped it up every week. I saw his first trial game and thought he would just contribute his little bit on the flank every week hopefully improve enough to show a fair bit in 2017. But wow he influenced the game with pack marks up forward, centre clearances, frenetic pressure and tackling! I love how they give him time in the centre square i think that is the master plan Pendlebury style. Big positive is his neat kicking - always kicks the goal. His performance is off the charts and i think he can not just make it but be an AFL player that makes a difference.

Not sure if it was Glenelg or us who changed it, but they made sure the Sumner wasn't the match up for Kelly after that happened. VB was quick in too to remonstrate initially after checking on Otten.

Beech has predominately played as a half forward and on the ball. Always had a great pair of hands and can take a pack mark.
When West was in trouble Beech was the one who would float back into defence to help out our defenders, but he's actually never lined up in defence to my recollection.
Couple of points about Beech; he has an awkward running style which makes him look slower than he is. He also has a large tank, one minute for West he was in defence next he would pop up and kick a goal.
Not scared to kick both feet, his left foot kick again looks awkward but hell it's effective. If only others would follow his lead and attempt to improve their non dominant side like he has done.
I thought he was the perfect candidate for that taller half forward.
I'm of the belief he would be more effective than Menzel because of his work rate and perseverance but McGovern now plays that role.
There's no way McGovern will be dropped, although Mc Govern may well be an ideal swing man to spend time in defence when we need reinforcement back there. Beech could have filled the half forward line admirably coming off the bench.
Being on the rookie list means an upgrade and that's a long shot.
If he was on the senior list Beech may well been in line for an opportunity.
A rookie list upgrade is a major step, one has to be kept for O'Brien just in case Jacob's goes down.

Now there's a log jam for the other place with Greenwood,Keath and Beech showing real form. I don't think much will change until injuries come, then he might get the call up but he certainly knows where the goals are.

Has he played in the centre square much?
