If we're just throwing all caution to the wind, I guess that makes Brodie's ceiling a stronger, faster Josh P Kennedy then.

They don't come much stronger than Josh Kennedy and Brodir doesn't have elite pace. Having said that I really rate Brodie and would not have been disappointed to pick him up. I see him as a Priddis type who I definitely would not mind having.
You would get faster return from Brodie however not for one second would I question the club for opting for a player closer to a full set of attributes

That's funny. I saw Malifice, Sheik, Jimmae, Chism to name a few who said they wanted Brodie over SPS.

I just had a look at Brodie - the differences are minimal apart from SPS appearing to have more mongrel and a better option outside of his midfield prowess. I'm stoked!
And that's my opinion. Happy for you to live with yours.

You left out the difference of Brodie standing out against more mature players/bodies and having a far superior year to SPS who only played colts level in WA and wasn't anything outstanding over the whole year.

Pretty sure when someone says a player has an aura of boom of bust they are saying they have a potentially high ceiling which is crediting their talent, but also there's more of a chance they don't realise that potential at the next level.

Fisher has shown more than SPS at a higher level and as such that's a pretty decent pick for us at 27 imo.

Really the only query on SPS came about because he had injuries this year.

Yeah cause he would banned for having a different opinion. Carlton board is one of the most harshly modded boards. Which is their right but it does make them soft.

The beauty about SPS is we can play him either the hard in and under type, the outside runner or a combination of both.

Brodie whilst maybe better at in an under and possession accumulator, lacks everything else SPS brings.

At the safest, SPS can rival Brodie... and at the ceiling height, we have ourselves a harder edged Shaun Burgoyne

Love SPS as a player from the snippets I've seen, & I do see him projecting as a Burgoyne type, but I feel that your post is disrespectful of Burgoyne in that it implies that he is not hard edged, when Burgoyne is nothing less than a superstar in my opinion.

Will be interesting to see how he goes, was highly touted coming into the year and being a bit unsettled in Sydney might explain being up and down a bit.

I love Burgoyne. He is 100% a superstar. However I don't think of him as a hard tackling player. He is pure silk. If SPS gets to 70% of Burgoyne, I would be over the moon

Soft tissue injuries and only played WA colts, zero exposure against senior opposition.

That's what not to like. Boom or Bust pick when we need to be taking the safer pick.

Played seniors for Claremont in 2015. Calf injury (the muscle sheath, not the muscle) prevented him from showing all his tricks this year. I think he would have been the stand out number 1 with no injury.
Plenty of Boom, low chance of Bust.
