List Mgmt. 2016 AFL Draft

Gross, why did I look at that video of Berry.

The one passage where he's faced with an oncoming tackler and he drops at the knees.

The 191 cm not-sure-if-key-defender-maybe-midfielder dropped at the knees rather than trying to break or evade the tackle.

He's not big enough to break tackles and yet his disposal seems suspect as ****.

I have deliberately avoided looking into the prospects much but all of a sudden I really hope we avoid Berry. We don't ****ing need any more back flankers.

This guy does not scream *future hybrid inside mid* and I strongly doubt he is going to improve our side in the short-mid term.

Oh but I guess he has a recent death in his family so he we better ****ing draft him just so we can prove to the afl that we aren't drafting future Ben Cousins or Daniel Kerrs...sign him up ASAP

I don't totally understand the reason for Berry. He's got a lot of Tunbridge or Sheppard about him in that i don't see him having too many natural midfield abilities either inside with clean hands or the ability to accumulate on the outside. He's not suitable on ball.

In this respect SPP has Berry covered by some distance.

His highest total for any game in the last 2 years is 20 disposals. I'm going to be ******* wild if we draft him with our first tbh. ******* pissed. I don't want english, berry, marshall or scrimshaw. Just about anyone else and i could understand it.

Yes agree with all that dont really want logue either.
English is a wasted pick Marshall will be a bust or a very very long development player
Scrimshaw rings my warning bells dont think he is that good.
SPP suits our needs perfectly.
Berry will be okay if he can be a inside mid, and get his production up big if but.
Berry is a hard nut though but is very light at 83 kg SPP is 90 kg.
Berry is injury prone SPP isnt.

Monocle is a visit from Don Corloene at the Eagles still on the table? Looks like he'll have to have a talk with Rohan.

Pissed off I told my mates I'd watch the draft with them now, they're well prepared for a meltdown of epic proportions when we take Berry or Gallucci over SPP. Won't be a good day for me.

A casual look at our depth chart would show that defenders is where our list is currently lightest. Actually makes good sense to be recruiting Berry (A 191cm defender that can play midfield) if North don't take him. List managers have to take the long view as well as the short one. Hurn turns 30 next year and Wellingham turns 29.
Nelson, duggan ,cole all played hbf before being drafted.if we draft some small forwards Cripps could go back to the position he played before being drafted too.
Likely most of them won't end up playing in the backline but they are options

This. On paper he reads 100% like Tunners.

Big, hard at it, athletic, good skills, can run forever (Ok, I'm not sure about Tunners and his running) but can't find the ball.

Based on that recent vid I'd be much happier with Gallucci than Berry. I think he could at least add something to the side that we lack

Ah well we still have Parto's development to look forward to

For what it's worth, I'm way more easy about not getting SPP than most. There are enough question marks there for me not to feel like he'll be a certain stud.
I don't think anybody sees SPP as a sure thing - well, I don't at least.

But I see him as a very rare opportunity. I'm a little sick of the conservative, friendly way our club is run and all it has gotten us is humiliated in a GF and then pumped in an elimination final. Time for change. Taking SPP is a statement and a step in the right direction.

My understanding is SPP has divided the recruiting team the WA recruiting boys lead by Brad Smith want SPP big time.
Rohan O'brien who is vic based and hasn't seem him as much isnt as big a fan, and prefers Berry.
Apparantly there has been a huge divide on this issue, lots of arguments.
Rohan has final say.
Heard bascially the same thing.

The divide in opinion between the people that have seen a lot of him and those that have only seen pieces is so stark. You can see it on this board. Just don't get his presence or impact on games on video. That round 23 goal against East Fremantle is a big example, was unbelievable in person but nothing special on TV even though it was the broadcast game.

If Sheed, Duggan, Jetta and Redden all make it through pre-season our midfield will be very different this year. We currently have midfielders out the wazoo depth wise.

Exactly. And Nelson plus Partington will be pushing hard for games as well not to mention Karpany.

We are drafting for the future not 2017.

List all of the names you like, I don't see many A graders or blokes who offer what SPP would.

Always had a conspiricy theory that someone in WA (possibly WCE) get a local kid over rated 2-3 weeks out. Then a team in Victoria swallow the bait and pick him early. This wipes out a pick and leaves someone we are interested in on the table. Sometimes it works (Conca, Boekhurst), sometimes it doesn't (Cripps). Got the feeling Logue is that player this year and will be taken 10-20 picks too early.

i would rage. would confirm wce are the only team in the league who regular waste high picks on rucks. ffs rucks dont win premierships.

North, Us, Melb, Brisbane have the best for ruckman in the league this year... well...
meanwhile dogs barely played a ruckman lol.

if english had a strong marking game I might feel different, but apparently he doesnt.
Check out Brisbanes draft history :) And you realise why they have had no sucess for 10 +years
