I'd add lamb, mutimer and snadden to the list of players that have to show some development next year to hold their place. Especially lamb

I excluded Mutimer, Snaden and Lamb as I saw that there is a significant gap between where they were at in 2016 and playing AFL. The rest needed to improve but were at least "in the mix" in 2016.

If we improve at this rate each year, we will stay at the top and realistically contend.

I'm so sick of people saying this. How do you(or the countless other people who 've said this) know West Coast didn't try to do exactly that? Trading isn't a one way street, the other teams actually have to agree to it. Plus SPP went at 18, imagine the egg on West Coast's face if they'd traded down and still missed out on SPP?

Yep we've done it a couple of times in recent years too so its not like we didn't know its an option. We either tried and failed or didn't want to trade down.

meh graham is a ball Butcher and will fit in at richmond with other butchers like cockchin , prestia and miles .

I really do think you underestimate how Graham brings other players into the game his hand balling is pretty impressive.

Most likely why he was the larke medallist his grunt work didn't get unnoticed

He has always been rated higher than the player's you mentioned

Which I'm not opposed too but would still prefer to keep him than pick up Petrie. Don't need both. Theres still some talent around in the RD. Would love to see Banfield get a spot. Don't mind Zurhaar either. Would take a punt on Ryan too, if works out Rioli and Ryan could be a very dangerous combo.

As a rookie Ryan is worth a punt. Still very raw but if developed correctly he will add another dimension to our forward line.

Graham sounds like Priddus and the frustration he causes by turn overs in now legendary. We have already got one of him.

The Larke Medal is a Politically Wanky award , always has been.
Pat Steinford, Garth Taylor and Cale Morton all won the Larke Medal so its not a guaranteed indicator of making it.

Twomey is a puppet and just regurgitates the spiel he is fed.
I place much more credence on what astute judges like Micky Abett say that what Cal pumps out.

Sure Graham was more highly rated than the others I mentioned.
However being more highly rated doesn't guarantee success .
No one rated McGovern or Cox, so being rated doesn't = guaranteed success.
Conversely the gurus rated both Beau Dowler and Mitch Thorpe ( both top 10 picks ) but neither became regular AFL players .

Look I have nothing against Graham and I hope he makes it , it's just that I like him a whole lot more on another teams list than ours.

We are doing a good job of weeding all the player with sub standard foot skills off of the list. Why stop now.

Those players are who I prefer over Graham, not Rioli.

Yep, plus Hill will find himself out the door if he puts up next year the same as what he did in the second half of this year.
