If Petrie in means no Fraser then I'll happily accept that.

But Fraser has been training with the club so that 'promise' doesn't seem like it will be broken.

Taking both makes no sense. The only reason I suspect we may take Petrie and McInnes is that East Perth were ridiculously short up front for much of this year and it did nothing for Lamb's development. It may sound like a silly reason to take these guys but perhaps the development team feel that having a better structured East Perth, with something to aim up up front all year and a strong on-field leader/coach-in-waiting like Petrie, can be good not only for Lamb but also the young mids kicking it to them.

Apparently CH7 news reported Petrie is heading our way tomorrow

Undoing a solid off season with a single brain dead decision

Not too worried anymore. I doubt we will ever see him in an Eagles jumper anyway because he would be insurance for our insurance. After next year he will be gone.

Petrie AND McInnes is absolute madness. It's staggering in its stupidity

One of them isn't particularly smart but you can make some sort of **** logic out of it

But both. **** me

Why you asking me? ask the club if they plan to go ahead with it. All we can do is either accept it or whinge about it which changes nothing. I'm trying to look at the potential bright side of it, which is hard.
It was just a general question, not having a go at you. It just seems so pointless and stupid to me.

Get someone with raw talent/promise that might develop into something. That deep into the draft chances are he won't amount to much so you move him on and try someone else in a year or two

At least though he might become a cox or a priddis or a McGovern. There is no such hope for Petrie and it's a waste of a list spot

We might as well not actually take anyone, Petrie is going to be that useless and we'll save money which the club seems so intent on doing

Yep, I've been saying that since the rumour broke. It seems like madness but if he does get drafted then it's going to provide for some epic melts which is almost worth it :)

Ch7 reporting Petrie will be an Eagle.
They also reported that Ballantyne would be an Eagle. Didn't happen.
They also reported at Sumich will be an assistant coach at the Eagles starting 1st November. Didn't happen.
So don't get too worried yet, although if they keep guessing they may get one report right one day.

Petrie is insurance next year as Naitanui will miss most of the year and there must still be some lingering questions over Lycett and his PCL.

As it stands he will be in the pecking order behind Giles and Vardy and probably on an equal footing with McInness.

It's the last report option, no need to blow a fuse over it as he will be in the WAFL for most of the time.

Insurance for what though? Because at this stage of his career he's not even close to being a ruckman. We could get a young guy who could potentially be on the list moving forward, or Petrie who is guaranteed to be one and done and isn't very good anyway.

We are not not taking Petrie

Naitanui out for most of the year
Lycett may or may not be ready for round 1

What happens if one of both of Vardy/Giles also gets injured? With Vardy's injury history it's possible.

That's why we need insurance. In a years time Naitanui is fit and Petrie retires. It's better than drafting a young ruck who is going to be stuck in purgatory waiting for Naitanui and Lycett to retire who have many years ahead of them.

If we went a young ruck, the pecking order for 2018 would be:
Naitanui
Lycett
Giles
Vardy
Young Ruck
