"staying on topic" is generally just people bitching and/or arguing over pointless subjective things like 'whether player x is better than player y'

I think people would have been accepting of his drafting as insurance if:
1: he was a ruckman
2: showed any semblance of form over the last few years.

I can only think it was a salary cap issue that a ruckman wasn't picked up instead of him.

From my understanding Petrie is a forward who can pinch-hit in the Ruck, and so is Vardy. As Vardy has been inclined to break down with injury from time to time, obviously Petrie would be his replacement should Vardy be so unlucky as to sustain another major injury (hope not of course!).

Didn't mind Brown, he had some good tools to work with and had a great half a season as a lock down defender

The game's moved past lock down defenders though, as eMac can testify

Emac will come back strongly this year,he's playing for his career and should have more confidence in his body.could see the gov up forward more

Oh boy the Freo board will be melting hard over this - the Kimberley is their geographical zone for the next generation academy but when they tried to nominate him were told he wasn't eligible because, I think, he wasn't living there anymore. He was listed by the AFL which means all clubs could select him - I assume Freo didn't try

Won't stop their posters from being pissed about it because some of them were keen on him

Ahh so that was their allocation. For some reason i though it was Cedric Cox but then he went right up in the draft calculations i couldn't tell who their player was they could allocate.
