Pick 12 is just at that awkward spot that makes it hard to plan for (well for us punters anyway).

Pick 18 you could pretty much write off any major sliders, but pick 12 you aren't sure whether to reach for someone who might not be around for your second pick, or wait and see who slides on the night.

By the sounds of things the club thinks he'll be around at 34 so unless that was a bluff, we can pretty much rule out the Shaker being at WC IMO, but there looks to be loads of talent available anyway

Pick 12 will end up pick 15 remember after academy bidding.

Tommorows heros is so cringe worthy and it just hypes kids up. The previous format was better. Yeah would love spp but I think his kicking needs and will need to follow a few our better kicks around in the preseason. Tbh I don't mind us not playing him next year while he can work on his kicking and decision making at wafl level. Would be the ideal Priddis replacement when he is done.

From what I have been told from a reliable source, if Hayward is available with our first (Id say he will be) we may take him, without question with our second. If Olango is available later we will take him too.

Hopefully we don't need to use 56 of jake Waterman and therefore will take Olango most likely.

This was a couple of weeks back though and things change.

Really starting to get pissed off with academy and compensation picks. We should be going into the draft with pick 12 and 30 yet at the end of the day that could end up being pick 15 and 40. ****ing ridiculous.

To put this into perspective prior to the two expansion teams these would have been the picks the losing grand finalist would have got in the first round and the team finishing eighth would have got in the third round yet they are our first and second round picks for a team finishing 7th. In the prior scenario that would have been pick 10 and 26.

Interesting. Isn't Hayward a medium forward? On the weekend afl site had him as a second round pick. Only player at this stage I would reach for is spp cause of his contested work and x factor. I did like what I saw of Hayward in the all stars game.

We do like our SANFL U/18 GF best on ground performers with our second picks

9 goals, 22 disposals and 10 marks in a Prelim is amazing though

Would be overload on mid sized forwards if we went Shaker, Hayward and Waterman.

getgaff I would be interested to hear what do you see in Scharenberg ?

As I seem him as a smart player with a good footy IQ ..... however IMO he has two serious and concerning knocks on him.
1. He is slow.
2. His disposal is very , very sloppy.

Given the never ending debate on a certain midfielder in our side, with said debate going on for the last 5 years and not looking like abating.
I don't want another similar player.

I would rather Quinton Narkle with a rookie pick than Scharenberg, I certainly would not be pleased if we spent a second rounder on Scharenberg.

Just my two cents worth.

Agree with this. I was surprised at just how sloppy his disposal is, even neat disposal would get him a definite top 20 rank, shame. IF we take what the draft gives us we should be well set. We shouldn't be shy about bidding, I think that's where the value is at.

In the past I've stayed away from Trade and Draft threads, mainly because I have no idea of what the talent is like and generally find the trade stuff just fanciful BS from posters who don't understand the concept of giving up something of value to get something of value. You guys are seriously making me miss the footy!

I still have no idea of what the talent is like and want to draft anyone that has a write up on them, they all sound good to me. One minute it's the Pepper Shaker, next its Scharengberg, next its Rotham, next its Bolton, next its... just bloody come around already Draft Day FFS! Either that or you blokes need to stop making such good arguments for the players.

I feel a bit like matt_bas ... want to hand likes all around... except just want to draft whoever was discussed last.

Yeah medium forward, had a great end to the year. Surprised me a little with us nominating Waterman, but Hayward is a little bigger.

Well I'll be, I just watched Haywards video never checked stats. Must have been playing against short people, delist.
Wafl/sanfl/u'18s camera angles suck. It makes players bigger than they're. Was convinced Waterman looked like a true kpf.

Interesting if Hayward lands at the eagles. Went to school with him and Allen but both are a few years younger than me.

Those boys are from the South East aren't they (I'm from the Adelaide Hills)?

Think Allen's from Mt Gambier but he was a boarder. Not sure about Hayward but I think he might be from adelaide.

Ah, yeah Adelaide or up North (Flinders Ranges etc.) which I think is their country zone. Allen definitely from Gambier my mate knows him too.

Anyway I digress. My source really rates Hayward (and he would know), so would love to get him with our second.

Yeah it's interesting. I have seen others say he could move into the middle as well. Tbh both crows and power have many picks between our first and second and he could easily head there.

Is it possible we are overhyping SPP? Whilst I rate him, little over 3 weeks ago and he was a massive reach at 12
He has certain raw attributes that are + level, but he hasn't yet put it together, and it's questionable if he will reach a top 10 player on a list. He may end up being a HFF, but his strength and aggression are good, and he does have a long kick and good size. He doesn't get the ball a lot, so it's questionable if he'll be a true mid? He is by no means a surefire prospect. If you look at 2 years ago, I'd take Ellis / Weller / Lever over SPP. It's an interesting draft with good (not great) talent.

same.
The AFL it self should have 1 big academy to develop very young talent from the rugby states as well as kids in very remote areas of Australia. Every club should chip in ( financial/faccilities/staff) as well as some financial support from Sponsors and maybe even the federal government. When it comes to the draft clubs interested in a particular player should bid for that player and the player gets to select his preferred club pre draft. Schooling is the only major challenge i can currently see but maybe the AFL could go into a partnership with a few Private schools.
