We may have enough defenders on the list but it sounds like Rotham has the potential to be a high level rebounding defender.

If the game plan is Bolton & SPP with our first two picks that sounds pretty dope. I do worry that SPP is not more of a mid 20's pick rather than slipping all the way to 34.

BISHOP one of the most respected posters has us taking SPP then Bolton at our second.
Either way if we get those two I will jump for joy.
Both are capable of playing 10 to 15 games next year maybe more.

Based on 4 min of footage (thus making me an expert); SPP's ball drop is very concerning, as is the fact he reminds me of Rhys Shaw (crazy run without necessarily thinking about what he is doing). Would prefer a safer option in first round. Second round? Sign me up.

Really like the look of Bolton. Clean, instinctive, quick and smart. We have basically nobody like him.

So with Fmac delisted, surely we'll go in one less player on the senior list again like last year, unless someone of value is still available at our round 7 pick (currently 124), or perhaps we might go into the PSD, but obviously we haven't done that since 2010 when we took Blayne Wilson. Athletically and physically he's very impressive. Mmm.

• At the Combine he finished first in the beep test and 3km time trial. Unlike Yeo, our last great midfield hope, Berry should have the tank necessary to play midfield full time.
• At the Combine he finished fourth in the repeat sprints. At State testing earlier in the year he ran a 7.80 agility test, just .03 shy of Stephen Hill's combine record. There's some spring in those pins I tells you what.
• At 191cm, he's the size of the prototypical modern midfielder. Still some room to fill out, but not a twig either at 80kg.

He also happens to be a good footballer.

• He is known to be tough and courageous. Here's a kid who played for a quarter with a bruised kidney. Wowee big boy.
• He can win the ball in the middle and considers that to be his best position.
• He likes to run and carry more than a Winona Ryder in a 7/11.
• He is known for his excellent intercept marking down back.
• He is known for his ability to hit the scoreboard up forward. Did someone say trade Darling?
• He finished top 3 in both the skills and clean hands test at the combine. I know that this doesn't mean all that much in terms of those skills, but what it tells me is that Berry prepares well, especially given that footskills are considered a relative weakness of his.
  
• All Australian U18 as an underage player, thought to be in contention for the number one pick earlier in the year before injuries.

He is apparently a top bloke.

• Captain of North Ballarat, Vic Country and the AFL Academy.
• He was awarded the Ben Mitchell award by his Academy peers for being the toppest bloke out.
• Every article on Berry seems to highlight his character and leadership, with the "tomorrow's heroes" article quoting clubs as saying that he is the "best kid in the pool" - so you know he can swim too.
• To back up excellent combine skills testing with a great repeat sprint and top marks in both the 3km and beep test in consecutive days is a decent indication that he is a hard worker and a professional.

He does have weaknesses. These seem to be:

• Inconsistent footskills
• Recent injuries
• Unclear which is his best position

To me though, it seems that if he didn't have those weaknesses (or perhaps even just one of them), he would be in line to be picked well before 12. We can't get perfect prospects as late as pick 12, but someone like Berry is probably about as close as we're likely to get here.

yeah he would be a nice fit in our middle. Also his leadership is what we need as we have a lack of leaders in the side.

Can't kick. Though like his size and power. More suited to HB IMO won't be a true midfielder. Lacks a little agility.

The player that slides to pick 12 would need to be pretty damn good to bypass SPP .

We have been crying out for a bigbodied player and one has just fallen in our lap in Pepper-Powell ......probably over paying but difficult to not take at # 12 .

If we believe he will slip, then great. Going Berry at 12 and The Shaker at 34 gets me interested. Ideally at 54 we go Goddard or Cameron or Strnadica type tall then Waterman and Banfield late. I would be stoked with our draft.
