Welcome Sam Mitchell (Hawks) and Nathan Vardy (Geelong)

West Coast Eagles:
In: Mitchell, Vardy, Picks 12, 34, 54, 106, 124
Out: Ellis, Cavka, McGinnity, Bennell, Brown(?), Picks 52, 70 and 88

Big question: Who do we pick up with 12, 34, and 54?

I hope you Eagles are looking after our champion, we'll be practising for when Hawthorn the mighty versus the Sam Mitchell eagles. ha ha ha !

Would be very happy if we rookie Marsh (Collingwood) and Garlett (Suns) and support them off the field to get themselves right. Both are young and showed something during their AFL time.

He will shortly become our fourth winner of a Brownlow whilst on our list ........ something your club couldn't deliver!! (ha ha ha)

Can someone ELI5 the Garlett and Marsh situations?

Can we rookie them?
Take them in PSD?

Technically we could take Garlett as a delisted free agent or in the drafts.

But Gold Coast delisted him knowing that he wouldn't sign with anyone else this year or nominate for the draft.

Next year he has to go through the draft if he wants to join an afl club.

Marsh? Why? We're not short on defenders... how is he different to H Marsh or Lockyer that were previously delisted? Just don't see the point...

We'd still have to pay him out of the final year of his contract. This would still be included in the salary cap payments for next year also.
Must be on peanuts surely. Take the difference off Le Cras!

He's likely better than any rookie we'd get.
In what way? With the rookie list you're really 1st prize aiming for McGovern's, Cox's, Priddis's - guys that given 2 years of time to develop show top 10 list potential. 2nd prize is having vets that can step in and cover adequately in the case of several injuries. I don't see Marsh carrying either of those. He was a put when he was drafted (more athlete than footballer), and him being delisted by Collingwood wouldn't indicate that he's really worth the gamble.
