List Mgmt. 2016 AFL Draft

I think he is so far away from being AFL ready even at 92 kg
Then again I have seen Goddard monster him in the Colts , you can only wonder quickly the likes of Goldstein Mumford or McEvoy will chew him up and spit him out.
i agree he wont play next year if. In fairness to english, goddard is a man child and just about physically matured. Theres been many young ruckmen play in the mid 90kgs but with english my concern is that his tap work is long way off from AFL and i don't think he offers much forward either.

Just watched highlights of both Berry and Powell Pepper, so I am officially now as much of an expert as those on here :D

Have the same feeling (albeit from watching an edited highlights clip) about Berry that I did about Sheppard back in 2009. Nothing I saw then indicated that he should be a first round pick, and there doesn't seem to be a major strength to Berry's game ,he's just solid around the ground. Obviously Sheppard has come on pretty well, but there were a few years there when we all thought we had wasted that pick (especially when Fyfe went later in the round, although Fyfe wasn't necessarily rated a first round pick in 09).

The "solid at everything, master of nothing" tag was given to Gaff back in 2010. A lot on here (myself included) were keen for us to go after Polec or Heppell who seemed the greater x factor picks at the time. Peppell-Power definitely seems to model his game on Dustin Martin, and would probably be more likely to play games in his first year than Berry would (mainly because of his build).

People want pepper Powell just in case he turns into a star so we don't get teased. And because he is west Australian.

Missing out on berry doesn't matter. Even if he turns into a star that's ok, he ain't a west Aussie, so that's ok.

Completely disagree with this. It has nothing to do with being teased and everything to do with selecting a player who is a good fit for our club. That he's a WA lad is a bonus

And like any draft from any year comparisons will always be made to players taken after our picks and wonder what might have been especially if the player we choose doesn't turn out as hoped

If we pass in berry and he turns out to be better than whoever we take instead it won't be ok

As it stands now I think SPP will be better than berry. Time will tell and we may not end up with either

Didn't Bond allude to many pages ago that we are looking for someone with good skills because "it's become a kicking game"?

Interesting because no one that we are linked to has anything spectacular when it comes to footskills (Brodie, Berry, SPP, Gallucci).

I noticed that too. I can't remember the context, was it about our first pick? Not a single player we have been linked to has good skills haha. Quayle mentioned Scrimshaw and Simpkin being the others we were considering but they look to be gone by pick 9 or so.

English is very raw at ruckwork as he was a midfielder and then had a 20 cm growth spurt in a year and all of a sudden he has too learn to be a ruckman so no shame that he can`t ruck at the minute but with Cox ,Naitanui and Longmuir to learn off .I reckon he will develop ok but may need at least 3 yrs to develop ..

Yeah it was our first (I think).

And agreed that's all I can think of really, that our number 1 preference is someone like Simpkin and will only go after the aforementioned players if he doesn't slip through to us.

Perryman? Popular opinions is that he goes before our pick though... Rotham's a great kick...

yeah but im still not keen on him.

Doesn't seem to matter who we draft tomorrow night, if its not SPP, he is instantly and always going to be carrying the cross and stigma of the kid who took "The Shakers" spot on our list.

God help him as who ever he is , he has already become a whipping boy. And we haven't even drafted him yet.

Welcome to West Coast .... oh by the way the fans hate you....... because your not SPP.

I just hope the vent is addressed to O'Brien and Nisbett and not to the kid who has the misfortune to be taken instead of SPP.
You are like a bloody broken record. I would prefer SPP to Berry but how the heck would you or anyone for that matter know how they will adjust to the AFL it is yet to be seen. The way you talk is as if SPP is the next Chris Judd which he certainly isn't. He will be a good player imo but no superstar. I hope we get a slider but if we pick Berry i will support him and not worry about comparing him to SPP in the future. You can only control what is in your sphere. Maybe the Eagles know SPP will come back home in 2 years time wishful thinking i know. Lets just all get behind whoever we draft because they will need all the support they can get

It was in relation to Gallucci:
Been explained many times that apart from the top 2 or 3 - the rest are quite even. I know a club who thinks Gallucci is top 10 material.
Remember its fast becoming a kicking game

Some people seem to think that Galucci is a brilliant kick, while others believe his kicking is inconsistent. Not that those things are necessarily mutually exclusive (see Chris Masten).

As an aside to the SPP/Not-SPP at our pick topic, I still can't believe that SPS isn't in the top pick discussion. Be it AFL academy or All star game he just stands out over the rest draftees! Some one is going to get a bargain!
Quite a few of the guys doing draft write-ups (not mocks) have him right near the top

Ainsworth and Taranto seem to be the two that have pushed up to join mcluggage and McGrath in the top 5 at the expense of SPS and Brodie

SPS looks headed to Carlton in the top 5/6 still whilst some have Brodie falling out of the top 10

Ok on the eve of the draft I go to bed and here is the dream I dream tonight

Draft Day : West Coast Style.

O'Brien ( Sunny Weaver Junior ) starts the day off with a piece of yellow post it pad in his pocket that reads "Jarrad Berry no matter what"

Commotion on BF as O'Brien calls out Berry's ( Vonte Mack) name at # 12.

SPP ( Bo Callahan ) looks so pissed off as he slides from WC's first pick which causes consternation and concern with the other 17 head recruiters who start to panic and worry whats wrong with SPP that they didn't know about .....the slide starts...........

SPP starts falling further and further down the Draft Board Board till pick # 35.

At Pick 35 SPP ( who is no longer Bo Callahan but in fact Ray Jennings ) who desperately wants to play for the Eagle, gets a call from Coach Simpson and is told some news. SPP hangs up and turns to his family and says " I am going to be an Eagle"... his family burst into joyous raptures and party hard.

The WC BF board readers collectively go into "urgently needing tissues to clean their computer screens, mode".

Post Script.

West Coast pick up two First Round quality players for under's.

O'Brien regains some respect back from the WC faithful.

Dream Ends Abruptly with a sad Ending.

Dream about to end..... nightmare about to start.......

as O'Brien calls out Drew Petrie with West Coast last pick .

On that note fellow posters I bid you a relaxed 24 hours ... lol.... this time tomorrow night we will have opened all our Christmas Presents.
Lets hope we are happy with our gifts.

anyone rate venables? I personally would prefer venables to gallucci or maybe even berry. He could either be a huge steal or the next leverde but i would rather take a risk on him than gallucci.

Yup, but SPS just seems to be a far better player than his peers! Dunno, I like all those guys, but if I had top pick it'd be SPS.

Oh dear.............. someone missed the point of the post, perhaps a few more :eek::p may have helped you get my drift.

Chill out Pal lay down and take two:pill::pill: you seem to be getting a tad anxious.

I like how many predict rotham to us. He will add a bit of pace and class to our backline and the type that could add to the midfield depth by rotating through the middle or wing at times. He would be a perfect get if we got someone like brodie with our first pick.

If we draft Berry he will have my support and i will hope we develop him into a elite footballer.
But will always have a soft spot for SPP

From my experience 'links' made between players and clubs beyond the top 25 or so are rarely accurate. I'd love Rotham but I'm not getting my hopes up.
