So for a number on the board it is starting to feel like Christmas Day.

Pity your little sister has gone and told you what you are getting for the biggest present. Kind of makes 4.00 pm today less of a surprise. She saw mum in the Quicksilver shop getting you the latest in boardies. Great for some who want to go to the beach, problem is some of you wanted a new pair of Levis and some wanted new Nike trainers. Before we spit the dummy on what we open, let's remember that it should be a good day. This year we are shopping at Booragoon or Karinyup - not like last year when we were at Inaloo and especially not like 5 years ago when your present was from the factory outlet with previous year's fashion and garments that weren't quite right. Don't start complaining after the first present, sometimes the best present is not always the most expensive (isn't that right eMac).

If we get what you asked for, then celebrate
If SPP or Bolton fall to our 2nd pick, then you can genuinely feel on the
If we miss out on SPP and you feel - remember that song "If you can't have the one you love, then love the one you have"
In case you don't open what you asked for from Santa - here you go and take one of these

In case we draft Petrie - these will start ringing and go immediately and down or more if needed

English actually looks a real talent to me, I don't really get the hate.
Our first pick should be almost impossible to stuff up this draft, the only 2 players I'm not that keen on for our first is Berry and Logue

1st pick - Brodie/Gallucci/SPP/English

2nd pick - Bolton/Fisher/Clarke/Ryan/Cox(s)

3rd pick - Lebois/McCarthy/Allison (no match from Bris)

4th pick - J.Bolton/Ryan/Darcy

5th pick - Waterman

I am just not convinced he will be a No 1 ruckman. I am normally very happy to take a tall and let him develop. I cannot see him as the Kennedy replacement. I saw Goddard give him a good rucking lesson and questioned whether an over-age ruckman should be better.

Hope I am wrong because he seems a decent guy.

Maybe we're all looking at this the wrong way...He was a midfielder as a Junior wasn't he....Perhaps the want to develop him mainly as a mid with small stints up forward/in ruck.

The thing with English is that the pick makes no sense for us as a list.

Yes, it's impatience, but that is because this list is clearly in "win now mode" with a number of key players fast approaching their 30's.

We need a player (preferably a mid) who has the best chance of providing immediate impact at that pick.

English is not that guy unfortunately. Would be much happier with us grabbing a mature age ruck, as they would have more of a chance of playing next year than English IMO...

If we draft Berry he will have my support and i will hope we develop him into a elite footballer.
But will always have a soft spot for SPP

Personally mines a raging hard spot for the lad.

Who do we replace Kennedy with in 3 years?

Or do we just wait to the last minute and go "oh sh!t".

We have drafted and traded in a lot of mids over the past 3 years.

Part of the reason why we drafted Matthew Allan later in 2015 I presume. Had a quiet first year at senior level, may have even played more ressies than firsts at the Royals but that was to be expected.

If we give him time post Kennedy he'll be right to go, otherwise the next years draft is more of a talls / kpp draft.

Well shite ruckmen dont.

Think it's a bit more complicated that just saying ruckmen don't win premierships. Hale and McEvoy for Hawks in same team suggests otherwise. I don't know what "rucks don't win premierships" means. It is only one player. It's like saying fullbacks don't win premierships.
