How's this for a quote in the review article on the WCE site about Waterman being a late pick.

"That selection is not reflective of his talent, but merely a result of rivals not wanting to enter into a bidding war with the Eagles."

'Bidding War?' Teams were afraid of our powers if they bid

We would've gave them the ol' touch of death

Mmm had to play golf at 4 didn't take my glasses so couldn't see **** all on my phone come home after losing by missing the last putt and drinking mass beers get some vision Venables how the what the you campaigners didnt mention him I'm thoroughly confused i dont know wether to be happy or pissed off and I've resorted to this stream of consciousness rant to say good luck Venables hope shit goes good for you..................and us.

Happy with the mix of players and the points of difference they bring to our list.

Venables and Rotham add speed and some versatility.

Riloi and Rotham elite kicks.

Waterman and Rotham are very good marks for their size and both play a little taller than their height.

The speed and burst of Venables will be of considerable value and he and Shuey will be good to watch in tandem.

Also like that Venables can play as a medium mid and is a goalkicker.

With two parts of the list adjustments done ( only the rookie part to add plus the last main list spot ... ) its balanced and has addressed some glaring deficiencies

So thus far :

Mitchell an elite inside mid.
Vardy a KPF who can help chop out as a ruckman.
Venables a inside mid with speed and can kick goals.
Rotham super quick elite kick that at the very least is a third tall , but I believe he will become an elite wingman in the Isaac Smith mould.
Riloi the small dangerous marking and crumbing crafty forward that we have been looking for for ages ...... since Phil Matera.
Waterman a third tall sort of utility, who if he get to develop an inside game , will become a difficult match up. Love his sticky fingers.

Outs v Ins.

Brown V Rotham. :heavycheck::heavycheck:
Colledge V Venables. :heavycheck::heavycheck::heavycheck::heavycheck::heavycheck::heavycheck::heavycheck::heavycheck::heavycheck::heavycheck::heavycheck:
Badger V Waterman. :plus: :whitecheck:

It was a good night folks, don't concentrate so much on the name ,more so the skills sets that the new player bring verses what has be cut of the list to make way for them and it was a win for list improvement tonight.

On my third :beermug::beermug::beermug: and looking for my fourth :beermug: so the world is looking like a happy place tonight.
I also like synergy so we have three :trophy::trophy::trophy:......... looking for our fourth :trophy:.

So doesn't seem to be much whinging about is going "vanilla" this year

Probably coz we didn't

Even took a calculated risk with our first which is very un-Vozzo.

Probably getting the message that vanilla ain't going to win you a flag

Hi guys. Have avoided the last 30 pages of posts because I am rapt with this draft!!!!...
Pick 1.... we all wanted balls and took a reach.... be pretty damn happy if we get a mk2 schooster!!!!
Pick 2.... what we hoped and wanted (apart from our hopes Bolton would slide)
Pick 3.... Rioli... wow.. a forward pocket :)
Pick 4... waterman.... bloody bargain!!!!!

They don't bid against our father son picks so we don't return fire and bid against theirs.

Unless a father son is a dead set gun why would you bid against a club? They might just return fire and cost you draft position in future years knowing a matching bid would be made.

An unwritten rule in drafting between civilised clubs. Essendon bid against Silvani simply because the clubs already hated each other. Lose lose situation. Eagles have more class than that at the trade table so we earn some kudos elsewhere. That's my take on this.

We needed to take a risk for a chance to get a gun. The safe but talented players are picked in the top 5.

Thats why I liked our draft. We back our current list so took players that dropped down because they had risks attached to them.

Safe picks are the correct call when your list is weak. I think we can afford a blown pick or two.
What was Venables injury that made him slide?
