Ross the toss needs to walk the walk if he's going to talk the talk.

Agree with you though that venue and timing needs to be irrelevant. I think we'll know pretty early in the season how we're likely to go, we play the other 4 teams that finished top 5 all within the the first 5 rounds.

We do have a lot of 6 day breaks but the fortunate thing is that on most occasions the other team is also coming off a six day break.

There's a degree of truth to that - but let's not forget how we all felt after three rounds this year. 22 rounds is a long time these days.

Anyone else thinking we've got a pretty tough journey the first seven rounds this year? You'd think we'd win against Brisbane in Rd1 and Collingwood in Rd6 at home but the rest I am not feeling that confident about. Hawks Rd2 and Geelong Rd7 will be hard to win away. Freo early in the season (Rd3) is always hard to win even though it's our home game. Richmond (Rd4) always seem to surprise at the unlikeliest of moments so not pencilling that win in yet either. And Syd (Rd5) away is also a tough ask.

We could easily be 2 wins 5 losses at the end of round 7. More likely we'll be 4-3 I'd think. If we are 5-2 then we should be laughing. If we are 6-1 or 7-0 then I think us finishing minor premiers would be a good chance.

The rest of the season seems a little easier but it gets tougher again around rd 19 onwards. Hopefully we do well early so our confidence doesn't take a beating and we keep building all the way through to the end of the season. Although if it does go pear shaped at the start then we will have the opportunity to recover mid season but will have a lot of must wins at season end.

I think it's a good fixture to build a premiership tilt from. Tough start and end but opportunity to test the waters a bit in the middle rounds against weaker teams. Assuming all goes to plan we should hit the finals series in a top 4 spot and in really good condition to have a crack.
