Analysis 2016 AFL Fixture

We are locked into playing Sydney in Perth for the HMAS Sydney game. Think the club were trying to turn it into our replacement Anzac day game as Freo always play at home during that round. Certainly does not have the same feel as Anzac Day, I would not mind if it was not a yearly thing. Surely playing it in Sydney once or twice would not hurt either.

Does anyone know if they have announced when the GF will be? 24th is the last Saturday in September then 1st October is next. I would not be surprised if it is in October again. Flights are so cheap now. Really thinking about booking early. Eagles make it... win. Eagles don't... im taking my golf clubs with me. :)

Just go there for the 24th, and have a weeks holiday there regardless. :)

so what are people thinking our double ups for next year look like. We can nigh on guarantee hawks and fremantle. What are people hoping for in the other 3? I would like dogs, adelaide and gold coast.

And now in coherent English?

Does not guarantee we will double up with the weird way the AFL fixture things but considering we played off in the GF it is more than likely we will.

Agreed a double up is no certainty

But has there been a Gf that hasn't had a double up in the past 10 years?

Just ignore the part where I quoted you. I was half way through typing a joke reply before but thought better of it. But of course big footy keeps a draft and attaches it to whatever reply you put in next...

Think we will double up against hawks and freo. AFL seem to like us and freo doubling up against one SA side each year so next year it will be port for us

The fixture scheduling allows for us to play one bottom 6 side twice so with woosh at the helm I'd be thinking essendon

We haven't doubled up against the giants yet so I think we might play them twice

So

Hawks
Freo
Port
Giants
Essendon

My tip for doubles

we haven't played a proper season game here in sydney (against either team) in 3 seasons.

this kills me. i usually have to fly to melbourne 2 or 3 times a year just to catch them.

We played the HMAS game in Sydney in 2010. I don't think it is necessarily locked to Perth.

I want to play a game there as I reckon we will knock them off.

We always get a double up against a SA side, and would assume 2 trips to the AO again. Expecting Geelong at KP and North in Tastartica as well.

Redden v Lions

Good stuff
Not rapt with the opener, but the Redden factor provides something. Just not sure whether that something will translate into a spectacle of a game. A good result for us, perhaps.

Redden 18 contested possessions and 10 tackles, Yeo 6 contested marks and 3 goals with his 33 possessions.

Well we play Hawthorn in round 2, and they have to play a (hopefully) bruising encounter against Geelong in round 1. So a home game against Brisbane should allow us to get off to a good start.
Not that we should take Brisbane for granted of course.

Wont be any spite towards Redden from the lions

With an airline being a major sponsor im sure they will get the date before us plebs allowing them plenty of time to increase their prices for grand final weeks. But dont worry this AFL administration is for the fans!!

I hope that we eff up the poos and wees...

Redemption is required

Things that bring my gears....

WC and Freo have the hardest travel burden in the league. Not much can be one to stop a travelling across the Nullarbor 10 times

But there are some simple things that can be done like managing 6 day breaks etc

One very simple measure is to not start our season on a Sunday, in particular a Sunday afternoon.

At the very least it would reduce at least one 6 day break. A Friday night start could reduce two...

That measure along with away Sunday games leading into the bye followed by a Thursday/Friday game after the bye.

The travel burden thing is made up for with our awesome home ground advantage. Took ages for teams to get their routine good enough to play their best over here and some teams still fail at it. Also our away record stacks up against the best because our routine is practiced every second week.

Sunday Twilight as our first fixture? AFL you can GAGF! Less of those ******* foul Sunday 2.40 games thanks, worst bloody timeslot.
While I agree that Sunday afternoon is the worst timeslot, we are always going to have a few scheduled. Id rather use them up on sides like Brisbane. Monday is a public holiday also. Same as WA day, these games dont have the same "hurry home and get to work tomorrow" feel.
