Whats a TPFP poster or RCG scent?
Anyone?

TPFP - The Power From Port. A PAFC only forum where if you didn't think the club was infallible, you weren't welcome.
RCG - not sure but guessing Rose Coloured Glasses.

Correct on both counts.

This is one of my favourite trades from this week. The Cam McCarthy one was good but that was easier for Freo because GWS really had no option.
HAW
Hawthorn receives a round-one draft selection (no.10 overall at time of trade) and a round-four draft selection (no.68 overall at time of trade)
From St Kilda
STK
St Kilda receives two round-two draft selections (no.23 and 36 overall at time of trade) and a 2017 round-one draft selection
From Hawthorn

St Kilda recognises that Hawthorn is desperate for a top 10 pick and takes the aggressive approach. They give them what they want but make sure they still get a good deal in return. Had we done this then the deal with Brisbane and GCS would have left us with 19, 23, 30, 36 and 49 this year and still with a 2017 pick next year.

We were always taking 9 to the draft I remember Hinkley saying that.. I guess there's the answer.

Getting the 2017 first round pick a year early is a bonus. Pick 19 for pick 10 11 12 or whatever, may or may not be a wrong move. Its always a gamble after the superstars have already gone. Pick 30 is not to be sneered at either. Not so sure much will be gained or lost, but 3 picks in the top 30, and two of them a year early, is not a disaster.

And if we win the spoon?

Just putting in my 2 cents. I remember Hinkley saying that too and initially I was glad he was doing it, and still am. But I also thought that you should never go to a draft thinking you cannot trade anything. If the option arises go for it.
Anyway, the difference in outcomes may not be all that much, although there is the ever present argument of which draft is better. But what I admire from St Kilda's trade is that they did not reduce what they have, they traded 10 this year for 23 and 36 but more than covered that loss by trading so they will have two first-round picks in next years draft.

So if port got caught next year, hypothetically cheating something like you know, essendope, and the penalty was that they lost their first draft pick next year....what would happen to that on-traded draft pick?

Goodbye >⊙⊙<
