I think an important player is being forgotten by many. These days ruckmen who are less than 202 cm need to have a big spring or a massive body. So as long as he is fit, and until our int rookie Special K has developed, this is my suggestion:

FB: Tuohy - Jamison - Docherty
HB: Simpson - Rowe - Buckley

C: Sheehan - Cripps - Gibbs
R: - Warnock - Murphy - Curnow

HF: Walker - Kreuzer - Everitt
FF: Thomas - Casboult - Jaksch

Int: Graham, Armfield, White, Weitering,

Reasoning behind persisting with Warnock during a rebuild?

Reasoning behind persisting with Warnock during a rebuild?

I thought I gave my reasons. Kreuzer can't hope to beat Sandy, Nic Nat, Holmes, Mummy, Witts, Gawn and others if he is rucking on his own and our midfield will be crushed unless Kreuzer can dominate. Warnock has been useless round the ground but has been able to hold his own in the ruck against most. This is, IMO, a much under-rated talent. "Holding your own in the ruck" means not giving first use of the ball to the opposition.

As a young team we will not want to give first use of the ball to anyone.

Further, much work has gone into making Kreuzer a better KPF. We need him to be able to play up there to give us a "kick it to him" option. As a young team we are not going to be able to shuttle the ball between team-mates up and across the field until we give a pinpoint pass. We will cough it up in no time. So Krooze on the forward line gives a hurried player an out. His presence should also make Caz and Jaksch more effective.

And, as I said, Warnock is there until Special K comes up.

Kreuzers actually better against those rucks tbh.

Warnock's a soft dinosaur.

Hasn't yet, but will. As certain as you can be about this sort of stuff.

So what you reckon is that a guy who in 2011 thrashed Ryder and Hille in a first elimination final and the next week held his own (but was beaten) against Cox and Nit Nat and is even now only 28 is so washed up that we couldn't even offer him to any other Club whilst no hopers like Currie/Phillips/Giles have all found new homes? Really?

Pretty much.

Did we draft his twin brother ?? :p

Like this, but you're putting a bit of pressure on Jaksch!
Also i'd just swap Sumner for Lamb. Reckon Lamb is a bit more advanced at present.

Haha - my bad, should have been Cas at FF. All fixed now.

I think Lamb may get the nod ahead of Sumner initially, but I reckon Sumner offers more and has been in the system long enough that we should be looking to get games into him pretty soon.

May depend on how his foot goes during pre-season.

Jeez, Windy - you've picked a tough battle here.

Warnock, if he somehow stays on the list (not sure how with Kreuz, Wood, Phillips and Korchek), shouldn't be a walk-up start. There may be games where we take in an extra ruck now that the sub rule is out, but he's very specialised in terms of what he brings to the table.

I'd rather we drill our mids on how to capitalise when an opposition ruck is winning the taps - it'll happen some days and they need to be able to combat it.

Just trying to put this team together you can see there has already been an evening out of the list...less automatic selections, but I think greater depth.

We need to trust Rowe to get back to 2014 form. Bit of responsibility on his shoulders this year.

Simpson, Jamison, Tuohy
Plowman, Rowe, Docherty
Thomas, Gibbs, Kerridge
Boekhorst, Jaksch, Thomas
Walker, Cas, Everitt

Kreuzer, Murphy, Cripps

Holman, Byrne, Sheehan, Ed, Weitering, Bucks, Armfield, Whiley, Clem, Lamb and so on...etc...the rest...Jones...Warnock

Who knows...another pre season and Foster may present as a selection headache?

Kreuzer/Casboult/Rowe can all share some ruckwork.
