Agree with you both.

I think where Rowe lacks skill he makes up for sheer competitiveness and obviously hates being beaten. His best is actually pretty good, we've seen him win multiple one on ones after another with some very good forwards and play a huge role given the likes of Jamo aren't always on the field (or playing with one arm). His worst however can be pretty darn bad.

The key with Rowe I think is minimizing the gap between his best and worst. As it's been said, some good support and structure will go some way to helping with that.
I imagine Bolton wants only the one solid KPF in Cas, but its only a guess. If I were putting an actual team out there, Rowe and Cas would play forward if we have the defenders to cover the opposition. Cas can push up the wing when necessary and take a grab to straighten us up coming out of defence, and Rowe playing more a traditional forward role depending on circumstance.

Still think he could be..... surprisingly adequate... forward.

I reckon Rowe and Jamo may be in and out of the side depending on matchups.

Collingwood - Rowe in to play on Cloke.
Richmond - Jamo in to play on Riewoldt.
GWS, NM, Sydney - probably both.

Hopefully we can manage Jamo through 2 years, even if the second is as a playing coach in the reserves.

Best 22 (Assuming we draft Weitering, McKay, Oliver, Clarke, Silvagni).

FB: Tuohy, Jamison, Weitering
HB: Docherty, Rowe, Plowman
C: Boekhorst, Gibbs, Thomas
HF: Kerridge, Jaksch, Everitt
FF: Lamb, Casboult, Sumner
R: Kreuzer, Murphy, Cripps
INT: Buckley, Graham, Simpson, Walker

Reserves
FB: Sheehan, McGuiness, Byrne
HB: Viojo-Rainbow, White, Dick
C: Clarke, Oliver, Holman
HF: Tutt, McKay, Foster
FF: Smith, Jones, Silvagni
R: Phillips, Whiley, Curnow
INT (from): Wood, Walsh, Gowers, Armfield, Korcheck

For interests sake, here is our team of 22/23 year old and unders (except Phillips who is 24) to highlight the shift in age profile over the past few years.

FB: Buckley, Weitering, Byrne
HB: Docherty, Plowman, Rainbow
C: Boekhorst, Graham, Clarke
HF: Kerridge, Jaksch, Foster
FF: Lamb, McKay, Sumner
R: Phillips, Cripps, Oliver
INT: Whiley, Walsh, Holman, Dick, Smith, Silvagni, Gowers

Notes:
What stands out to me most is our glaring lack of young tall defenders if you look at the reserves team. Whilst we have a few young developing tall forwards in Foster, Silvagni, McKay (potentially), we have no depth in key position defenders. Shows how much of a must Weitering really is. Also makes the Plowman acquisition look good.

If we draft two of Oliver, Clarke, Gresham, Mathieson then our midfield depth/talent is starting to take shape nicely.

Anyway, these teams are far from exact and we are unlikely to get the 5 players I hypothesised (Weitering, McKay, Oliver, Clarke, Silvagni) but it made for an interesting exercise.

Any team without Rowe in it is seriously under valuing him as a player. As someone who played 250+ games as a FUB it's probably the toughest position to play on the ground when your team isn't performing well. Rowe has the tools to be a decent FUB for a few years yet and has done a pretty good job imo in the short time we've thrown him back there.

His true worth would be seen once we had a midfield that didn't leave him exposed so often in one on one contests that make it nigh on impossible for any defender to beat their man with the ball coming in so fast and so often.

He's not the best defender going round but not fair to ask Jaskch or Weitering to take big bodies just at this stage.

Weitering as our third tall next year, may be the way to go. Have to give the kids some time but this one looks a likely round 1 starter.

So what you reckon is that a guy who in 2011 thrashed Ryder and Hille in a first elimination final and the next week held his own (but was beaten) against Cox and Nit Nat and is even now only 28 is so washed up that we couldn't even offer him to any other Club whilst no hopers like Currie/Phillips/Giles have all found new homes? Really?

that's pretty much the case.

Will be delisted.

no-one wanted to trade for him because he is not cut out for this anymore. And frankly because he will be delisted and can be picked up DFA.

May land at Norf but more lilkley will play VFL

I came here to ask your opinion on Jaksch as being developed as primarily a forward now since you have recruited Plowman and seemingly Weitering, and having lost Watson and Henderson.

I notice a few of the teams above have Jaksch as a forward option, which I think makes sense given the strengths of the current list.

Related to that, how have you seen the development of Foster in the VFL this year? I think there is certainly an opportunity for somebody (anybody) to grab a role up forward this year, so it would be great to see one of the younger players make the most of it.

Jaksch and Foster aren't 'number 1 forward' sort of players, so while we all want to see some improvements from Jaksch in particular, those guys have a little bit of time to break into the side given Everitt and Walker essentially play the same role.

Best case, Jaksch comes on and pushes Walker out with good performances and eventually Foster does the same with Everitt in a couple of years. Foster only has the one year completed in the AFL system and although I haven't seen him, it seems like he needs to continue physically building up.

Jaksch seemed pushed aside too easily, so won't displace Jamison and Rowe in the short term.

Foster had a foot injury.

I see Plowman as keeping both White and Walker out of the backline as 3rd tall material.

So it points to Jaksch replacing Hendersook up forward.

KJ showed some really nice touches in the NAB games, then disappeared off the map after cracking his ribs against the tuggers in Round 1. Could be our surprise packet of 2016 if he puts in a massive pre season.

FB: Tuohy -- Jamison -- Plowman
HB: Simpson -- Weitering -- Buckley

C: Docherty -- Cripps -- Boekhurst
R: Gibbs -- Kreuzer -- Murphy

HF: Walker -- Rowe -- Kerridge
FF: Sumner -- Casboult -- Everitt

Int: Curnow -- Graham -- Thomas -- White

Midfield rotations (18) - Kreuzer, Casboult, Simpson, Tuohy, Buckley, Docherty, Cripps, Boekurst, Gibbs, Murphy, Walker, Kerridge, Sumner, Everitt, Curnow, Graham, Thomas.

Key Defenders (3) - Jamison, Plowman, Weitering

Key Forwards (2) - Rowe, Casboult

Rucks (2) - Kruezer, Casboult

Tagger / Run with (1) - Curnow

Utility (1) - White

Blood Weitering early on and see how he goes. Shift Rowe up forward unless Jaksch has an amazing pre-season and his body begins to resemble that of a professional footballer and not an accountant.

Move Walker to high half forward which is where he plays his best footy and gives us a genuine avenue to goal. White on the bench due to his versatility. Can play a lot of different positions.

Would really love to see the two other Irish boys fit and firing. Sheehan really teased us a couple of years ago and looked like he could be a freak, haven't really seen him since then.
