The Ravens defense fell off a cliff last season without the pass rushing ability of Terrell Suggs (who is 32 and coming off another long-term injury) as it left only Elvis Dumervill, Courtney Upshaw (who has a total of 5 career sacks and is now a FA) and a rookie in Za'Darrius Smith so an EDGE defender is an obvious choice at some point early in the draft.

Jordan Jenkins has reasonable athleticism (testing in the 60th percentile of NFL LBs at the combine), plays smart and is a versatile player having played both OLB in Georgia's 3-4 Defenses over his career while also putting his hand in the dirt to rush the QB on third down. He is also a leader, having been the captain of the defense this past year. This versatility, combined with his above average ability to set the edge in the running game would be valued by the Ravens who have had an OLB of this mold at SLB for at least the past 10 years and I am confident Jenkins could continue in that position for many more.

With the 75th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, The Oakland Raiders select Artie Burns, cornerback, Miami (FLA).

Burns is a bit of a throwback pick to the Al Davis days of drafting track athletes, except this guy can play ball. Long rangey corner with good ball skills, fits in very nicely as a prospect to fortify the secondary. Needs a few years before we will see his true potential, but he has the luxury of being a #3 or #4 option at this stage, given that the Raiders have Sean Smith, David Amerson and TJ Carrie as the top 3 corners.

Thought about a CB and there is one left on the table that is really good (ha ~ was talking about Artie -- well done Chewy316) ---but one of the Rams major concerns is at Center and I believe Nick fits the bill as I did with Fuller at WR saw a lot of Notre Dame this year and Nick Martin is quality.

The younger brother of Dallas Cowboys All-Pro guard Zack Martin.

He moved back to center as a graduate in 2015 and started all 13 games after being named season-long captain for the second consecutive season.

Well built for the position. Quick off the snap and has a real team first mindset. Squares well with a balanced base to absorb contact and hold his ground.

Great vision and knows how to identify the pass rush, seems to have a high football I.Q. Was a two-year team captain.

Versatile starting experience at both center and guard so has some movebility if needed.

A couple of things he needs to work on is he can get caught lunging with his upper body, falling off blocks and ending up out of the play and also needs to identify threats when he has reached the secondary during run blocking.

Also in one game he racked up a few unnecessary penalties -- does play with some passion.

Per larkis:

Wasn't planning on going offense on day 2 of the draft and I would of preferred to look at the trenches however nothing I like. Think Carroo is the most talented player remaining in the draft and although WR isn't a massive need in our offense I think he'll be a great asset as he develops into a starter. I don't need him to be a 1 #WR so he has no pressure to perform and carry the offense. I see him more as an Anquan Boldin type of player and a steal in this part of the draft.

With a physique that makes scouts gush, Oakman certainly passes the eyeball test with his tall, chiseled frame, branch-like length and body thickness to overwhelm blockers at the point of attack.

He emerged as a force in 2014, registering a whopping 19.5 tackles for loss to go with 11 sacks, three pass breakups, three passes defensed, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

Not the most technically sound DE available but his athleticism is undeniable, the perfect project player for Dan Quinn.

Round 3, Pick 19, 82nd overall

AUSTIN JOHNSON, NT, Penn State
6'4" , 314 lbs

Some mocks have Johnson going in the early 2nd round, but the consensus is that he will be taken within the first three rounds and at this point, he fills a need for the Colts.

Johnson provides the desired size required of this position, but he also brings a hunger to tackle and he runs out every play. He lodged a high number of tackles for a NT in his last season at Penn State, with 78 of which 15 were for a loss. He also racked up 6 sacks and the Colts would be hoping for a relative kind of production in the NFL.

Johnson has good movement and strength. He has the ability to lock up blockers if needed or work his way to the ball carrier. Like most prospects, Johnson will need some work to thrive in the pro game, but he has the tools to become a more than solid player.

Johnson has a motor that is always revving and he moves well in small areas with strong hands to stack and create movement. A player whose production matches the tape, Johnson has an impressive blend of power, quickness and awareness to fit three- and four-man fronts.

Johnson has the lower body power to become a block-eating nose tackle with the ability to keep linebackers clean, but his energy, pursuit and tackle production show that he is much more than that. Johnson has technique and pad level issues to improve upon, but he’s never content to just sit on blocks and he's very rarely dominated on a snap. Johnson's strength and activity will make him a draft favorite of salty defensive line coaches.

New York Jets select Jerald Hawkins, OT, LSU

Hawkins mainly played right tackle on Les Miles' offensive line, winning the starting job as a redshirt freshman. Hawkins filled in for an injured La'el Collins on the blind side and then took over the left tackle position vacated by Collins turning pro. Hawkins missed LSU's game against Ole Miss thanks to an ankle injury but started the other 12 games in his last season with the Tigers.

Hawkins looks the part as an NFL ready offensive tackle. He can slide his feet and hips into play-side positioning once making squared contact. He flashes power in his hands to snatch at a defender and maintain his grip, despite a defender's attempts to break his grip. He plays with good weight distribution and has enough agility to redirect rushers away from the quarterback.

However, Hawkins possesses an unusually linear build with a thin waist for an offensive lineman, and that affects his power in base blocks. He isn't a natural knee bender and will miss more than he hits on the second level. Hands can be too wide in pass protection setup which leads to a slower, wider punch at times.

The Jets will need careful and patient offensive line training to coach up Hawkins to eventually take over from Giacomini, as there is a risk that throwing Hawkins to the wolves too early will set him back permanently. However, if/when the Jets correct Hawkins' technical deficiencies, they should have a right tackle for the next 10 years who can also, from time to time, play on the blindside.

Kenneth Dixon, RB, Louisiana Tech

With the loss of Morris and the jury still out on Matt Jones the Redskins could do with another talented RB prospect in the backfield.
The Redskins have bigger needs at this juncture than RB, but we felt with some of the prospects on the board that they might lean towards some talent in other areas of weakness.

Dixon is touted as being capable of starting in the NFL. He is fast and elusive with impressive footwork and video game moves which help him elude defenders. He has good vision and commits to what hole he is running through, then ploughs forward, unafraid of contact to fight for extra yards.

A big plus is also his receiving ability. Probably the best receiving back in this years draft he gives the Redskins passing game an added dimension which can help utilise his talents, provided he isn't asked to block which is glaring weakness in his game.

His size and running style opens him up to injuries and another knock on Dixon is his tendency to put the ball on the ground having coughed the ball up 13 times in 3 seasons. This fumbling will, once more, come down to coaching which, if he can overcome these issues, will make him a very good NFL running back

Texans will be looking for a decent OT in this draft to protect our new highly paid QB and RB, probably not Pro ready just yet he shows some great promise with some good coaching.

"Willie has started a lot of games, but he is still considered raw. He has the size and athletic ability that can't be coached, but he still needs to work on improving his technique and strength. With good coaching in the NFL he should be able to develop and has a chance to become a good pro. He has an excellent motor and plays hard on every play. Evaluations vary greatly for Beavers, but Mike Mayock has Beavers as his #5 OT in his initial rankings."
