Will anyone else be cheering on Sam Crawford like crazy today? She plays such a great game to watch, and I've highly disliked Vika ever since her exploits against Sloane at the AO a few years ago

Azarenka is my least favourite player, I hope she loses tonight.

What happened there again? Can't remember.

She's annoying but has a great arse.

Sloane just won like 3 games on the trot in the 3rd set and Azarenka called for a Medical Timeout, clearly to stop the momentum.

Asked after the match why she needed the medical timeout, this was Azarenka's response:

"Well I almost did the choke of the year right now. At 5-3 having so many chances, couldn't close it out. I'm glad I could just turn it around. I just felt a little bit overwhelmed realizing that I'm one step from the final and nerves got into me for sure."

The most engaged and best I've seen Bernard attitude wise. Don't think he played that well off the ground but served lights out in the 1st and 3rd sets. His mental lapse in the 2nd set is probably why I don't think he's ready for top 10 yet.... (he's pretty close already but still needs to move slightly better and remove his mental collapses where he goes through the motions). Interesting player Bernie is though, for a big guy his touch and finesse is incredible. If only he could move slightly better- his anticipation skills are very good and his decision making is brilliant too to mask his lack of agility. If he stays switched on he can be an extremely good player. I don't think he'll ever win a grand slam with Wimbledon being his best bet but I think his career trajectory will be similar to Berdych's- consistent top 10 player and getting in the 2nd week of grand slams regularly, threatening to break through, but never being a real shot of winning the whole thing.

Good summary, I feel sorry for Berdych he hit his peak at the same time as three of the best.

All the talk is about Kyrgios, but I think Tomic will go deeper into the latter stages of the Australian Open this year.

Depends who he draws. Still feel he has issues with his movement, and players can exploit that. Wouldn't want to draw a grinder in the 1st or 2nd round, in fact one of the worst draws would be Hewitt. Tomic would win but it won't be a short match.

Dimitrov is highly over rated and gets way too much spotlight for his ability. If it wasn't for his strokes aesthetically resembling Roger Federer no one would give a shit, like they don't give a shit about most ranked 20+. "Look it's baby-Fed!" - cue the circle jerking.

The guy is a mental minion.

Thiem, Coric, Zverev - these are the guys that should be watched. Give up on Dimitrov. Kevin Anderson will have a more successful career at the end of the day. Don't hear about him but - he hasn't got a Nike contract. Same goes for Ferrer. Amazing career considering his physical stature. A billion titles. Don't hear squat about him either.

I didn't know Rasheed also worked with Monfils. Another player who could've achieved more.

It's a shame Tsonga didnt pick a good strategic coach.

It's not a case of Tsonga not being able to find the right coach, it's a case of Tsonga not giving a f**k. He has openly said he is happy with a career of mediocrity as opposed to working his butt off to achieve anything massively significant - in relative terms to his ability that is.

He got rid of Rasheed because of the language barrier.

Same goes for Monfils. He has said he'd just like to be known as an entertainer.

What do people really expect? They're French!

Tomic's variety plays with the rhythm of grinders

Yes but he has issues with his movement still. Not saying he hasn't improved but he still needs to improve it. Tomic wouldn't want to draw a Ferrer-type early, who gets into long rallies.

I'd be more worried about Tomic drawing a power player than a grinder, to be honest. Losing records against Tsonga, Raonic, Berdych, Isner...he doesn't handle brute strength overly well. He's improving but he's still too passive at times and he lets these types push him back when he plays his little mid-rally mid-court slices. Top-level grinders aren't good matchups either but I think he's improved to a point where he can push most of them; he's got more weapons than a lot of those types of players.

Ferrer would be a good seed to draw for Bernie. Smoked him in straights twice last year and Bernie is on the way up and Ferrer down.

Not over 5 sets for mone. Not saying he wouldn't win but how much 'petrol' would he use up doing it?

lol!

Sometimes I think it's a waste of a talent that we see the likes of Monfils and Tsonga who arent willingly to work hard to win a Grand Slam. What's with these French players, same goes with Gasquet lol

It's good to see Tomic play some good tennis, and actually show some maturity on court. Hopefully he continues to this form.

Plus, I think Dimitrov does attract more attention because of his looks and was dating Maria at one stage. B
