So no McRae ?
And what about Fitness and Conditioning ?

Bloke named Joel Hocking is the new Physical Performance Manager, and he and Mark Homewood, the Medical Coordinator, will report directly to Macca.

the Fitness people are

In addition to the changes to Carlton’s coaching panel, the Club’s fitness area has been restructured and will now report to Head of Football Andrew McKay. Joel Hocking has been appointed as Physical Performance Manager, while Mark Homewood the Medical Coordinator.
Are they new to the club ?

Why is that Harks ?

I've said it before but there was rarely anything impressive, nor directive watching Barker at training.
Nor was did he ever seem particularly attentive through the VFL games I saw him at.

The other thing is that he was the head coach and now he's not.
You just don't want to give players the ability to split between the old coach (albeit a temp one) and the new coach.

Barker is though very pliable and quite amiable, so I doubt he'll be causing any friction............but the situation could bring one about.

I think Shane Watson does his best work higher up the order...

Happy with this for the most part. Would have moved barker on though.

Hope Watto doesn't use all our bloody reviews

Good use of Barker IMO given he seemed to be trying to engineer a few things at the kickouts that other clubs adopted. They were feeble bubble pass plays stolen from the NFL, but it was more innovative than most strategies you see on AFL footy field (I know it's a fluid game but honestly we're a backwater in this department).

Very happy with the medical/fitness/performance/development restructure. Has essentially proceeded as per my post a few weeks back. Hocking, Craig and Homewood will coordinate on a level not seen before at this footy club and the result will be amazing for us.

Now they just need to get a decent coder on retainer and they can forge a world-class setup that might pay a chunk of the yearly football budget if they come up with new performance management software.

Barker - stoppages.

Terrific, we will once again be strong in that area. He did a very good job in stoppages this year did Barks.
First time in a while i'm pretty happy with the guys in the coaches box. Now we've just got to get our on field issues sorted out.

Aside from Craig, I like it.

Desperately needed fresh blood, and from that it looks like we've gone with a few up and comers who have substantial experience.

Although I'd agree that this group does need a more senior figure like Craig, I just find his appointment uninspired, especially in that development and performance role. Whether or not there were other candidates that could fit that role, I'm not sure but I'd hope they actually searched for someone in that role and not just rely on Trigg's relationship with him.

whos the fitness guy? appointments seem good but im not sure about mckay & craig. look like a couple of plodders in my opinion when we need dynamic leaders
