Bit sad to see DeBoer go. Understand it, but sad. Forgetting skills etc., his sort of personality and attitude is great value. Reckon he's a fair chance to get picked up somewhere, would be surprised he doesn't sneak onto an AFL list somewhere. The rest not so likely.

It's not really why Deluca and Grey were delisted though - we're obviously well above the minimum number of delistings needed.

I can only guess the reasoning is twofold - it's a clear message to the player that they need to work harder, and given both players are borderline, it means we can assess at the time if there's anyone better.

I think it's more than a statement - the club are just opening up as many options as possible. They see something better out there, we grab it straight away - must also mean we're really hot on players like BHill.

If I'm not mistaken, Deluca and Grey can nominate and be picked up by any club now .. or has something changed in the last few years and I'm missing something?

I reckon it's an OK call. Grey was always going to be touch and go. Sorry meima, but he just doesn't strike me as the sort that has the poise or skill set for AFL. Deluca's final season surge gives him hope, and he puts in a ripping few weeks and I'd be amazed we don't pick up one of them given how many spots are opening up (with likely 1-3 still to come).

Is ok just disappointed that dawson, d.pearce ,suban can get out of jail easily , where the like of tanner smith , deluca and grey all show good sign get delisted hope someother club need a hard nut and draft grey . Will be quitely support him if he play afl with other team. I think the difference between Beveridge and ross is Beveridge look beyond his best 22 and ross show favorism with his best 18.

Beat me to it

No real surprises. Hope it's a deep drafts because we only gave 1 early pick and a couple of players in Mayne and Ballas are leaving.
10 players and counting. Given we're only restumping, replumbing and rewiring, I'ld love to see Ross' idea of a full rebuild! o_O

Well Dawson has always been a bit of an enigma. In an age where skills have never needed to be more sharper, he's become a veteran player with such a limited skill set. Suban is contracted otherwise I think there's a good chance he'd have been out the door too - may still go in a trade. DPearce, well I'll leave that alone.

As for coaches. I you might be on to something, but it's very hard to tell from the outside. Though he seems to have this 'favouritism' associated with the top tier players, I've never heard a 'fringe' or lower down player say anything but good things about him.

Hoping deluca and grey turn from delisted player to crowley and c.pearce . Maybe a wake up call is good for them also . Like what grey tweeted.

Dawson, D Pearce and Suban over their careers have made sufficient deposits in the bank to maintain credit worthiness. Not so de Luca and Grey. Or something like that.
When Freo got dawson from the saints, Ross Lyon... er... I mean Freo gave him a 3 year deal worth $400,000 a year. This was at the start of 2012.

I dont know how much Suban and Danyle pearce are on but they would be on similar wages too.

No Ross came to freo 1st then lured dawson here.

No, that's not how I remember it. Zac had been courted by Fremantle through the year, and had been secured before the shock signing of Lyon. Maybe the club hoped that both were coming, but neither Dawson or Lyon would have known of the other's intentions.

Would've been hilarious if they ran into each other at Perth airport.

"Wait... What are you doing here?"
"Nothing... What are you doing here?"
"Uh... Nothing"

We tried to get Dawson as an 11th hour trade the year before and almost got it through. I remember the live updates with like 2 minutes to go on the last day of trade week saying we had almost agreed to terms but we couldn't get it through in time

Any idea which pick or player was involved?

Nah I just remember it being talked about in the herald sun live updates feed they had going on, right up to the deadline. Apparently it was pretty manic in the last 15 minutes that year, there were a few trades floating about

For all the discussions on this board about Dawson and D. Pearce they have been good servants for Fremantle and they have done the job that RTB and the Club has asked of them .
So many posters that under estimate the job that Dawson does for the team and the support he gives to players in our backline . DP has been crucial to our midfield because of his genuine speed around the stoppages and his ability burst out of packs and then move the ball into the forward line .Yes he has done some dump things and yes his errors in front of goal stand out but he has always given it everything he has for the team . When you look at who else was available on our list he had no rival pure and simple . The emergence of Blakley and the development of Weller may change that this coming season .
TBH if Bennell and Fyfe had been available at the same time DP would have had trouble keeping his position in the team but that's history ,This season places in the best 22 is going to be very competitive.
