That's a bit 'chicken or egg'. Say on here that he's more likely to entertain a move east than go home, next thing it's a tweet. Hackdorn moonlighting?

There's gotta be a reason he is heading to Victoria over SA (Assuming Mr. Browne is correct).

Pretty simple - there are two teams in SA, one he doesn't like which leaves one team there. He's not the homesick type. While it's possible he could choose to go back to SA, missing home won't be the driver - it would be opportunity, money, culture, future. All of which he can find more of over east.

---

In any case, regarding Tim (Lachie's manager) he's a good sort - doesn't seem the type to F around. You might call it 'pushing up his value' but it's also testing the market to find out what his value is. Decisions on going or staying are more than just money.

Depends on the club. Some are desperate for good talls, some are desperate for good mids. He would slot into pretty much any teams midfield and has a heap of good footy in front of him.

I would have said 450-475 k

He would get more than that over in Vic.

So you think his manager is testing the waters so he has something to negotiate with when he sits down with Freo? My suspicion is that if he wants to stay at Freo it will be for less than what he could get in Vic.

If Lachie wants to go to Victoria then we would be idiots not to bring him into the Hogan discussion. If he's just wanting to test the waters, then power to him.

Nar I was just commenting on what Andy Brennan said about his management leaking a story to push up his value. Tim isn't the sort to manipulate like that. His management would have a pretty good idea of his value based on the other players they manage. No doubt, they'd be fielding expressions of interest from other clubs right now as well which would add to the picture, but I don't believe they'd be doing a Colin Young.

No doubt we would, but that's a small bridge and a lot of water.

And here I was thinking that in the next few weeks Adelaide were going to announce that they were the target club for Lachie.

Are we actually target some other young WA player other than Hogan, sunshine and hooker. We are quite secretive with our dealing also before we sign bennell.

Weren't Melbourne heavily into Neale last year? We would effectively have Blakely as an immediate replacement for Neale, so I'm not worried about him leaving any holes. However, my initial preference would be to keep him.

Neale would absolutely leave a hole in our midfield. For starters, he plays virtually his entire TOG as a genuine on the ball midfielder, a fairly important position to cover, and he has become a proven ball winner and a good distributor with solid big game experience. Blakely is not even fringe 22 let alone able to fill that hole.

Rest assured, he'd be missed, certainly in the short term. The only way I'd be appeased if it helped toward securing a genuine tall fwd of some ability (Hogan being the ultimate dream of course).

We'd work around it if we lost him, but I know Freo don't want him to go. Blakely will be a good inside Mid for us that I am sure of. If we were able to score a KPF, then we could easily push Bennell into the midfield with Fyfe. No need to rotate them forward as much.

Jack Martin is next on our Blacklist.

2016
Pavlich -Retire
Hannath - Delist
Mzungu - Delist\Trade
De Boer -Delist\Trade
C. Pearce - Delist\Trade
Mayne - Let leave as Free Agent
Clarke - Let leave as Free Agent
Barlow - Trade\Delist
Silvagni - Trade\1 Year contract
Spurr - 1 Year
Sandilands -1 Year contract
Apeness - If he stays injury free then resign him
D. Pearce - 1 year
Neale - Resign if at all possible.
Langdon - Resign for 2-3 years
Grey - 1-2 years, needs to work on his skills

This is possibly 9 players leaving. A few of these players like de Boer or C Pearce could stay for 1 year to slow the turn over.

Some players will hurt us short term, but should improve us in 4-5 years should we get some more draft picks for them.

2017
Taberner - Wait and see
Blakely - If he shows improvement give him a 2-3 year contact
Sheridan - Extend for 2-3 years
Crozier - Wait and see, give him another 1-2 if he improves
Griffin - Delist
Mundy - 1 Year contract
Ballantyne - 1 Year contract
Fyfe - 5 year plus contract
Suban - Delist
Ibbotson - 1 Year Contract
Dawson - Delist
Johnson - I think he will be done, but if his form warrants he could get a 1 year contract.

Bit harsh on Griffin and Dawson IMO. Griffin based off our last few years is better than any ruck we have other than Sandilands. It'd take us recruiting another solid best 22 ruck from another side for me to want to give him the flick. Dawson is our only defender who can take the monster key forwards and does his job almost every week. He won't be around for our next premiership tilt but until a suitable replacement arises he has to hang around unless he decides to call time on himself.

I think Apeness simply has to be backed in IMO. Only thing that changes that is if we somehow nab Hogan and McCarthy in a single off season. As long as he doesn't sustain another long term knee injury we should persist.

Highly doubt we will have 7-9 list changes this off season, the only definite delist so far would be Deluca (unless he improves out of sight)
Langdon is a flight risk imo and with the team not doing well for the first time in a few years we have to prepare for that.
Barlow gets another year atleast, even if he isn't in the team at the end of the year we could do alot worse then Barlow as midfield depth if we have an injury.
Silvagni is 50/50
Hopefully Clarke stays, he is the future of our ruck department whether anyone here likes it or not.
Mayne will probably get a couple of years, if our team starts hitting targets then Mayne will actually be handy as a mobile third tall, he would excel at Hawthorn for example

Yeah agree with most of that. I'm not so sure about Langdon though, not yet, I think he'll stick around for while.

You didn't mention Mzungu, you'd think he's on the way out too.

Tanner Smith must be another, but given how thin we are in KPP, he might hang a round a bit longer. The vibe around here at least seems that we'd rather give Collins a go over Smith. If that holds for the season, I can't see us holding both ... maybe?

Clarke is a big issue. Even if he stays, there is a real risk his knees are just not going to stay with him (so to speak). Have to wait and see how things go, but I've got concerns myself.

Long way to go though, so we'll see how it pans out.

Griffin and Dawson will both be the wrong side of 30.

They may earn 1 more year if they play well and we lack other options. They should be holding up other players plus Dawson gives up more Free against every year.
