What's his price hairy lasoo ??

With all the cheap options in the midfield, I'm looking at 3 Premo's down back. Shaw and Lairrrrrrrrdy the standouts. GOAUS!
$506200 I'd love to fit the gun in but I may have to wait for him again this year,
I would like him a bit cheaper.
Loved Shaw down back last year, I just wish I had the balls to Captain him in a few of his massive weeks.

Lairdy rumoured to be a crows mid in 2016

This also allows Smith to move back to the backline. He played wing a lot last year and struggled to find it.
Much better suited as a good unaccountable user out of the back half.

Would be nice to know what Pyke has planned for Laird and Smith.
Wait till preseason I guess.

Yeah, why would you want an injury prone spud like McVeigh?

The only concern I have with him is his post season knee surgery, but other than that at 542k he is a lock IMO.

Didn't say he was injury prone I just said I struggle to see him playing 22 games for starters. I struggle to see him holding his place in that 22, because of age and a variety of different things I don't see him averaging above 80. Just a personal preference. Loved to be proved wrong.

I personally will be looking at Laird, Bartel and Smith ft a mid pricer and rookies. No one in defence screams out at me bar those three so I don't see why I should be spending top dollar for mediocre players when that money can be spent elsewhere. For example, 542 is the same price as Harley Bennell. I'd much prefer to spend that money on him and get a 100+ average than a 90 for the same price.

Hmmm.

You won't choose McVeigh who is usually good for twenty games a season because you're worried he won't play all the games.

Yet you're happy choosing Bartel who is two years older and only managed 11 games last year.

Both have risks but I don't think Bartel is that much more of a safe option than McVeigh.

If you watched football last year you'll know that Bartel scored 80 in round one, did his knee then came back for a 7 and got concussed in the first quarter. I have much more faith in Bartel averaging and playing more games than McVeigh next season

He'd need to average 95+ for me, will be interested to see where he plays preseason. If he's full time midfield I might be tempted

I'd happily take a 95 average from McVeigh, even at 542k. There were only 2 defenders who averaged 100 last year and realistically the one most likely do it in 2016 is Heath Shaw. The good old days of stacking Deledio, Gibbs, Hodge, Goodard, Bartel, Hanley etc in your backline are over - a 90-95 DEF average is the new 100.

Its also worth pointing out McVeigh's best SC season was when he was playing the rebounding defender role, which is where he will more than likely end up in 2016.

I've got him sneakily slotted in at the moment. Will be watching the NAB games closely. Awkward price but as a defender it might be worth the shot

Is David Swallow D/M this year? He was great in that possie in 2014.

What sort of condition is West Coast's Mitch Brown in? Was a round 1 starter last season, cheap as chips and could be a nice little cash cow for the early part of the season.

Someone on our board saw him out and about and said he looked fit and had no trouble bending over and lifting shit. So knee looks the goods.
Pretty sure he has been training since the start of preseason but hasnt moved onto full contact/drills yet.

Cheap and worth a punt if named in round 1.
MacKenzie is back and McGovern would have to play forward for him to get a gig.
Buyer beware.

With your medium defender set up so successful last year is there room for both MacKenzie + Brown even if McGovern does play forward?

Yes but only because Brown can and has in the past played on smalls. He's got a bit of speed.

It comes down to Brown vs Schofield for the 3rd tall position.
Guys like Butler and Ellis will fight it out for the last spot in defense.

EDIT:
Schofield MacKenzie Butler
Wellingham Hurn Sheppard

McGovern forward and loose in defense when needed.

If that is in fact the equation, Mitch might wanna hope that Schofield gets injured. Couldn't play Brown over Schofield IMO.
