Brownlow Medallist
From memory we let Wagner go through because there were still a couple of players we rated higher, that picked ended up as Matho.

Skinner. Picked three or four spots after Wagner. Matho had already been drafted. From memory we let Wagner go through because there were still a couple of players we rated higher, that picked ended up as Matho.

ALEX WOODWARD, 23
Hawthorn (two games, 0 goals)
Hasn't had a fair run at making it as an AFL player after three knee reconstructions in four years. Woodward's talent and toughness is undeniable, and the 2014 Liston Trophy winner in the VFL should be in the mix to find another home. The Brisbane Lions' recently appointed coach, Chris Fagan, is a fan of the midfielder, who also skippered the Sandringham Dragons to the TAC Cup flag in 2011 under new Lions assistant Dale Tapping.

I heard Fletch's kid was pretty good, but I thought he was a bit younger than that. Actually I am sure he is only 13-14, apparently won the player of the tournament for the under 11 invitational at Redlands last year or the year before.Haven't heard of William Fletcher before. A father/son?

No academy guy. Looks like he played one QLD game against tassie for 3 handballs. Western magpies QAFL players - 6 games in the seniors, 1 in each of the reserves and colts. Wonder what type of player he is.
Yeah he'd be 13. Played at Coorparoo in the same age group as my lad.I heard Fletch's kid was pretty good, but I thought he was a bit younger than that. no way all those boys get picked up by us, is there any advantage to nominating an academy player that there is no chance of you drafting?

Not at this stageDennis and Rolls could be handy for the rookie list.
Has Dennis shown the ability to play anywhere other than ruck?
BRISBANE LIONS
First Pick: 3
The type of player they should target: A player that can hit the scoreboard plus run through the midfield.
Ideal player: Ben Ainsworth
AN IMPRESSIVE medium-sized forward at 179cm with an improving aerobic capacity, Ben Ainsworth suits the Lions perfectly.
The Gippsland Power product showed off his match-turning ability in Vic Country’s first carnival game this year, booting four goals in a blistering third-quarter performance.
He’d help the Lions address their scoring and ball-winning woes.
“It’s great to see him bounce back. He had an exceptional 17th year, started his 18th season well then had a bit of a flat patch. But he’s bounced back really well, which is a bit tick for him from a character perspective,” Ablett said.
If either Hugh McCluggage or Andrew McGrath are available, the Lions would likely take them over Ainsworth.
I have been tossing up between Berry and Simpkin at pick16. The only thing is i'm not sure if they'll both be there by that stage. I would be happy if we went with Simpkin and with the two picks in the early twenties we went 2 HBF.I'd like to somehow draft Ainsworth, Berry and Simpkins. We'd then have most of the 2015 all conquering Vic Country team in our squad, building on their existing relations and chemistry.
It really appears that Vic Country, NT and Tas have the lowest go home factor as there really isn't "home" to go to. For a long time now NT and Tas have not supplied many quality draftees - so VC it is.
100% with you on Berry and Simpkin. if both were available at 16 i would take Berry over Simpkin as i would think Berry would be classed a slider even at 16, more chance of Simpkin still being available at 21 than Berry IMO.I have been tossing up between Berry and Simpkin at pick16. If both were there not sure how I would go. Little bit of noise about Dogs liking Simpkin. Reckon Witherden would be there at the 20's, other names that might come up are Sam Walker, Villis or even Rotham, possibly Cox as other HBF to think of.100% with you on Berry and Simpkin. if both were available at 16 i would take Berry over Simpkin as i would think Berry would be classed a slider even at 16, more chance of Simpkin still being available at 21 than Berry IMO.
if we miss out on Berry Witherden would be a good fall back option at 21/22 if available.
