1st pick needs to be the best key forward we can get our hands on. With the Shack and Walker we have key forwards for the next 7-10 years, get another elite key forward and we are kicking goals for the next decade!

Sorry to keep disagreeing with you :D, but I'd go with a key defender ONLY if McStay doesn't look like he'll be any good down back by the rest of the season (which i think will be the case), otherwise I'd put him up forward because he can do some serious damage.

There are no key forwards worth taking even if it was a good idea.

Worth bearing in mind that there is also Hipwood this year and Ballenden next both of whom I think will end up being very good third bananas.

We're likely to have a pick in the range of 1 to 4. Early days but new names appear to be popping up in Phantom drafts and Allison is sliding.

Hoping to pick up a SPS or Ainsworth with our first pick, Allison and Rolls with later ones.

Hi Quigley, I remember reading about Himmelberg from Academy in one of your posts. Does he fit into this likely third tall type?

He's in the academy squad but pretty sure we don't have a free shot at him because he moved to Brisbane only 18 months ago.

Same happened for Lachie Weller a few years back. Played for Subs academy but got drafted first round to Freo

With out run and gun game plan we require both fast players and good ball users(Something we severely lacked yesterday!) I'd love for us to draft Sam Petrevski-Seton. He'd be perfect for us!

Be prepared to finish last to get him then.

If we finish last, then l would be surprised if more players don't leave at the end of the season, starting with Mayes. We have been down for so long now that we have to look like we are improving, and on the up. Getting out of the bottom 4 is a start.
Not sure how this relates to the 2016 draft but anyway yes I think everyone will agree with that.

I would not draft a key foward, howver i would wait for one to come out of contract or free agency.Sam Petrevski-Seton i would be to trade aggressivelyto get him and use our 1st round for another player

Is he still tiny? Likely to slide if so.

I would think another key forward would be the last thing we need to go after in the draft. Focus has to be on midfielders and big key defenders capable of playing on Waite, Kennedy etc. A player I don't think we have atm.

Height or weight wise? I believe he is 182cm so height isn't an issue. He still looks quite skinny though yeah.

Don't mind skinny. Height was the issue but I thought he was 177cm.

Ignore me.

Listening to Steve Conole's draft wrap last year, he identified ruck, outside runner and midfield depth as draft targets. The unfortunate retirement of Clarke probably also means a tall defender is required.

The academy prospects he listed as potentials almost fit our needs to a tee:

Jacob Allison - tall utility who can provide run and long kicking
Jack Rolls - outside midfielder/halfback with great endurance and a neat kick
Declan Watson - tall defender who is an aggressive stopper with pace and decent skills

We would still be looking at a mature tall defender though. And in terms of the ruck - depends how West goes this year will need either a development project as well as mature back up.

How does Allison go for speed? Nice height, lovely long kick but is he quick? Would love it if he could be our Isaac Smith.

I think I read he's closer to a Pendlbury than an Isaac Smith.

I haven't seen him move like that in congestion or be that clean with the ball but I've only seen him in the Champs where he seemed much more outside. Can't argue with that result if it occurs though. Would be a huge win.
