Skinner might not be moved to rookie list but we would be smart move to delist him and redraft him in rookie draft. He knows he's not going to play for 12 months so as long as he is getting same money he shouldn't be too worried. Maybe we are gong to delist one or two other players before draft even if they do have contracts and pay them out. There's 6-7 players very lucky to be on our list. There's definitely a good thought that a mature age delisted free agent could help us over next couple of years.

We can't rerookie smith he had already had 3 years. We have to promote him to the senior list or cut him

And McGrath has retired so there's list spots to have all draftees on board.

Ah, ok thanks.

Looks like it is all going to work out now, number wise anyway.

Shame for McGrath though....thought he really showed something.

So if we promote Smith, we will have the 4 high draft picks and then the likely addition of the 2 academy players with the picks in the 70's ... We will probably draft the mature age rookie whom is good chance to be at brissy, plus pick up another academy player and perhaps a high performing VFL player in the rookie draft.

I have it that we have 33 senior listed players right now (allowing for McGrath delisting) but Archie has to be upgraded as mentioned earlier because he has been on the rookie list for 3 years so that takes it to 34. So we have 6 live picks at draft if we don't sign a DFA before the draft. Does that sound right guys??

Yup. Likely four live picks, two academy matches and one promotion.

There are so many holes in our list back pocket... Half back .... Half forward forward pocket ... Wing .... Mids with skill and strength.... It's going to take 3 good drafts and few years of development before we will get good look at finals again that's for sure.

Love the way Shai Bolton, goes about it. The way he weaves through traffic and takes the game on. Will have to work on his efficiency but most of them do.
One of the picks in the 20's might get him along with Witherden and Berry or Simpkin with the earlier picks.
A lot of smalls though especially if we get Ainsworth at 3

I'm pretty at ease going into this draft, only guy I've become invested in us drafting is Berry. I really want him on our list. Just the kind of character we need within our young ranks and a quality player with plenty of athleticism to boot. Really hope he can make it through that gauntlet of 8 - 16: will be a tense wait to see if he's still there at our second pick.

I don't see us losing either way at pick 3 whether it's Ainsworth or McCluggage so don't really care what happens. As for our last two picks I'm interested in the injured guns who dominated last year in Witherden and Simpkin, but it seems so even that it's hard to really get invested in anyone one way or the other.

It's a pretty comfy position to be in.

Yeah, I was saying that at the beginning of the year and being told to shut up by some people.

Seriously, when posters mention being shouted down/told to shut up, it feels so melodramatic.

I think the bloke I want the most this draft is Simpkin. Battle for a left field selection.

I'd like Simpkin, but if it were between Simpkin and Berry, I'd have to go Berry. I really hope Simpkin slides to 22.

Nothing melodramatic. Why some one would bother to pm some one else and threaten them simply because they had a different view of a sporting team and were vocal about it...

I just find it interesting that much on the boards group think has come around to what I was saying early on.

in the latest road to the draft podcast titled who will go number 1, there was a brief mention of hearing some scuttlebutt that Ainsworth could be in the mix for the bombers.

If someone has PMd you and threatened you then thats low on their behalf. Definitely different to say that compared to making a 'shouted down' comment. I just think there are too many 'people yelled at me for having an opinion and I was right!' Type of posts poppinh up these days.

I definitely don't think your call is far off with that said. I'm more along the lines of last year, this year and next year being the drafts we needed to absolutely nail.
