Seriously, when posters mention being shouted down/told to shut up, it feels so melodramatic.
Strange how few posters say the reverse.

"Turns out I was wrong about that and you guys were right. Man, I wished I listened to you!"

Thanks Pobt appreciate you finally saying that

Brett Anderson believes Sydney are interested in Simpkin in the top10 is that a jump for Simpkin can't say I have seen him play

I wonder if that could put Griffin Logue in the frame for us. Sydney was said to be keen on him, if they pass, he could be an intriguing prospect for us at 16, albeit diverging from the "stack up on midfielders" strategy. Eagles are probably keen on him too though.

Humility is the most underrated trait.

It is what won Trump the election

Interesting theory. Not a quality I'd associate with Trump.

though I may have just missed the joke

Spent the season out injured after a very serious leg break. Played well as an underager in the 2015 championships for Vic Country, and was rated up there with Ainsworth coming in to this season season.

It's funny how many of the highly rated 2015 underagers coming in to this season had injury interrupted seasons. Ainsworth, SPS, Berry, Simpkin and Witherden.

Kinda think North will take Logue if Sydney dont. Gut feel

I do actually. That is what happens when

A) am on phone
B) drunk everything in the house bar the rum
C) drinking the rum

And McGrath has retired so there's list spots to have all draftees on board.

Wow. Big decision by the lad. I'm assuming he forfeits his salary for next year?
Good for the club though, opens up some awesome draft opportunities.
In hindsight I reckon the club knew this was going to happen.

His health is more important than money

He wouldn't have been on much. Pretty sure he just signed for 2 years but not sure on the rules. Shame I really rated him as a strong prospect but the moment he had a stress fracture in the navicular you know it's a long hard road ahead.

We definitely would've known this was likely and played into our list spot calculations.

Logue could be in the frame for Fremantle with SPS looking likely to be chosen by Carlton and him wanting to play in Victoria it would definitely depend on how they rated English though

That must be why we are sitting with no draft picks between 23 and the late seventies to match bids on Academy prospects.

We can pick them up by taking a deficit into next year. They both tend to be rated around the third round or so, so we'll probably wind up losing the pick we got back from Collingwood. That seems acceptable. The 70s picks will probably come in a bit and contribute some points.

All will be revealed on Draft night - meanwhile, interesting food for thought.

We could really use the pace, marking ability and silky skills of Cedric Cox off the half back flank. Not sure how he'd adjust moving to Brisbane but if our recruiters had a good chat to him and came to the conclusion that he'd handle the move well I wouldn't be disappointed at all if we drafted him. I'm hopeful the players we draft with picks 16, 21 and 22 come from the following mix: Simpkin, Florent, Logue, Berry, Bolton, CCox, Witherden, Clarke. Add 3 of those guys in addition to McCluggage or Ainsworth and that'd be a very handy injection of young talent to our squad. Have well and truly reached the point, however, where I rate this draft really highly and think there is great value all the way down to pick 40 and even onwards so whichever players our recruiters select I'll happily back their judgement in and throw my full support behind our new players.

Yeah we'd have a really good idea of which teams are interested and where their picks are. Right now worst case scenario is a downgrade of our 2nd rounder next year (unlikely). Best is we pick them up for nothing given they are bid on a bit late and/or our 70s picks drift forward through consumption of academy bids and passes. Likely is we have a slight deficit in the 3rd or 4th round next year. No biggie.

Or we simply don't rate them and wont pick them up (most unlikely)
