Interesting talk that lions had two academy bids that we didn't match in this draft and last year's draft.

Surely this is proving the value of the academies to the league in general... we are developing players that other clubs want, and we are not able to take them all. expect more of this in year's to come from all northern clubs with the restriction on number of picks that can be taken to the draft. GC & GWS have been able to match everything because they're still living off the introductory bonuses.

We wanted Watson. But we couldn't afford to match a second round bid and carry a deficit over to next years draft and see our 2017 second round pick half wiped out.
