Brett Anderson from Inside Football had Polson at 70 and calls him a small mid

Had Williamson at 59. Listed as 189cm utility

Seems like a decent draft. SPS should be a gun, not too keen on Fisher. Did not expect to land Macreadie good get. Don't know much about Polson or Williamson. Kerr we all knew about him, didn't expect him to drop to #65 but can see why. Happy we got him in the end though.

Gws got Deboer because they needed list spaces going into the draft for points.
If they had to use more points then they would have picked him up as a dfa next week.
It was basically to get around the new rules

We have the thinnest midfield in the league and all seem smallish bar Cripps and Gibbs.

It is a heavily mid oriented draft.

We take:

1 x medium mid
1 x small mid
1 x tall DEF
1 x small FWD
1 x medium DEF
1 x medium FWD

I expected us to walk away tonight with 4-5 great mids including 2 bulls.

This is not at all what I expected.

I hope this is not a giant screw up!!

It's just not possible to take 4-5 great mids in a draft.

Not that I can think of. If there's any reason it'd have to be to do with the club and salary cap and nothing to do with him. I rated him highly going into the draft. My knowledge on him is limited but others on the GWS board also rate him highly and are not too happy on passing on him either

Pickett and SPS will liven things up in the midfield for Carlton we will have an impenetrable rebounding backline...beginnings of a genuine scary side being put together with the big boy Mcreadie being added as well..

It was to beat the DFA rush, not to get around the rules. Shocked that they didn't want to invest in their academy kids though; completely shocked.

No, they just hid him and he played about 10 NEAFL games and the Champs. Just didn't get the exposure and people clearly thought it was GWS or bust with that level of commitment. Groupthink that obviously backfired.

This confuses me a bit. Why would they hide him and then not bid for him? Then they go for De Boer?

I think there was 90-92 list spot available, so well short of that with 77 taken.

Lots of good HFFs and KPPs still there, will be an interesting rookie draft
