Don't worry about the size. Can they get their own ball, can they spread, can they use it? Most experts rave about Fisher. All players can kick the ball well. Most mid's aren't full of big mid's but quick decision makers that can get their own ball.

Look at Darcy Parish at Essendon - Fisher strikes me as similar. I reckon he's a steal!

I was really hoping we were going to target big-bodied mids and instead we went for smaller players in that area.

Overall, I'm a little non-plussed about the players we picked up in this draft but what would I know, I'm just an armchair observer like the rest of us.

I'll put my faith in SOS & Bolts to bring in players with the right attitude and let them mould them into solid AFL players.

The thing is, we always want to top up the senior team but this year, we have probably given our seconds a leg-up with these young developing players. If they can be left there for 2-3 seasons to really learn their craft (both between the ears as well as physically) then our rise up the ladder may be slow initially but should really ramp up over a short period of time later on.

Can't wait for the 2017 trade & draft period now.

See you in October/November 2017.

Time will tell obviously, this has been our best draft/trade period in forever.

Pickett, Marchbank, SPS...... that's a godsend. From what I read .....Kerr, Macreadie, quality that slid......and the rest (going Gilligan's Island).

These are skilled dynamic footballers and I am buzzing over it.

Roll on 2017.:rainbow::thumbsu:
I reckon last year was better, but it's solid overall. I'll be looking wistfully over at Atley though.

Port's draft haul was great, they just sat at the bottom of the top 20 and then the top 30, and just scooped up what remained. Marshall will be a patient development, but if he can build his body and straighten out his consistency in front of goal, you've got four players who will step into their 22 over the next 18 months.

We have Cripps, Gibbs, Curnow, Kerridge, Palmer, Murphy, Graham, Daisy, Simpson as mids next year. The new crop can develop in the background

Absolutely rapt with the first 3 we took got Kerr cheap don't know much about the other 2, got some lefties which is good a great effort by the boys and still some nice players in the rookie draft Sharenberg Walker Stengle and Guelfi are worth a look...

Staaahp, I only have so many pants in reserve.

Can't quote it from the thread, but below, is my post from September 16th, in the rumour thread.... Thank you fat hairy intoxicated sleazy man. Thank you for allowing me to finally get something right....

Sep 16th... Post 3585
"Ok, finally I have an actual rumour...
The source is probably completely unreliable, but it's a rumour nonetheless.

I just got home from a function, There was a quite intoxicated man there who took quite a liking to MrsCoach16. As I was "saving" her, he struck up a conversation with me. Mumbled and splattered something about having "contacts at Carlton"....

Immediately I thought BF! After a little persuasion, he told me there's a kid we're getting at the draft. Both the club and the boy are Already committed. Apparently, the club told him to NOT attend any draft camps, keep a low profile, etc and they would definitely pick him up...

Not sure where the boy is from, or even where he's playing. But supposedly an onballer who wins his own footy.
Goes by the name "Cam Polson".

Does anyone know this name or heard of this kid?"

SOS and Co clearly saw a need for run and carry quick type players with skill. I can see why we were a fairly slow team. Picking up another big bodied mid May not have been the way to go. We have Cripps, Curnow and Gibbs not quick. We lack run. Really like the look of Williamson. Bottom aged elite kick.
