That sound effect they played everytime a pick was in....I've heard it before in a commercial but can put my finger on it... Priceline?

It appears Bolton can coach, SOS has a great eye & contacts. So what we need also is Blues supporters to buy memberships so our footy department is well resourced so we can develop players to their full potential
Don't forget that SOS has his own boys in the system, so he knows a lot of parents etc outside of his actual job.

He's killing it at the moment, and I love how other clubs are starting to take notice and hate us for it!

Thanks Coach and once again apologies to Mrs Coach. For the record I do not consider myself fat!

Clearly have no problem being called hairy, sleazy or drunk, though...

What do people think SOS's plan is in regards to all these defenders we've drafted or traded for over the pat two years. Not that i have an issue with it i think the back 50 is the most important part to get right but realistically we can only play 6. Is his thinking that defenders make good forwards or is his hope grooming these defenders for currency in trades later on?

Can't just grab 3 and call it a day.

Weitering - gun intercept backman, may spend time forward
Marchbank - flexible second tall, full back
Plowman - third tall, lockdown and rebound role
Macreadie - like Plowman, but more rebound focused

That gives us three key defenders and a forward who can swing back. It also gives us quality cover for an LTI.

Rowe - holding a place til the others are established
JGM - good signs, but still no guarantees

Two depth options who will need to earn their games long-term.

I like the backline we've built, especially given that we may have improved the forward line at the same time. In a couple of years we could be lining up with:

FB: Docherty, Marchbank, Plowman
HB: Byrne, Macreadie, Sheehan

HF: Curnow, Weitering, Pickett
FF: Sumner, McKay, Silvagni

Also pays to have younger KPDs playing that role in the VFL. Helps the rest of the team when we are stable in defence.

Macreadie takes over from Foster as the developing KPD but it is his actual position.

Happy with the Macreadie/Foster key defensive posts. Jones/Jaksch/Kerr up forward with Jaksch the swingman.

It looks a cracker of a draft for the Blues !
Interested in others thoughts on adding to our our Inside Mids going forward , as i thought we were looking at a few this draft...
The only pick that has me baffled was our # 61 pick Tom Williamson DEF ( where we could have snaffled Dylan Clarke # 63 MID )who in my opinion would have been a better fit... anyone else feel the same ?

GO BLUES !
Was in top few in much of the Combine testing.

Fast and has endurance.

The video on the CFC website shows his speed and that he is a good kick of the footy.

And he turns 18 next month.

Will be interesting to see how early - or if - this crop of kids get games next year. My completely uneducated guesses would be:

SPS - potential round 1
Fisher - potential round 1
Macreadie - mid year possibility
Polson - development year
Williamson - development year
Kerr - development year / last couple of rounds maybe.

SPS - potential round 1 as a forward / midfielder.
Fisher - Northern Blues most of the year, a few senior games after the mid-season bye.
Macreadie - will play when one of Rowe, Weitering, Marchbank or Plowman is injured or needs a 'rest'.
Polson- Northern Blues development year.
Williamson - same as Fisher. Might get earlier games if. Simpson is injured.
Kerr - same as Fisher. Might get earlier games if Casboult or Harry is injured or needs a 'rest'.

Don't completely agree. If you count last year's draft with this year's & GWS boys we have picked up last year & this year, then we have really done equivalent to three drafts. We can now start to cherry pick class. It's all about development now. Really, 2018 should see great win loss improvement.
Expect a turnover of 8 players or so again next year. Won't be cherry picking time yet.

Jamison's gone, Rowe is limited, Simpson has a year or two left, Jacksch to be delisted after season 2017.

Agree. You think the delistings will come from:

Armfield (coaching women's team), Wright, Thomas, White, Graham, Rowe, Casboult, Lamb, Buckley, Jones, Jaksch, Palmer, Smedts, Gorringe, plus our 3 rookies.

Who knows what happens to list numbers and rookies as it looks like a new league rule will come in.

That's also me not checking on contract status of the above, but if they have a poor year or suffer serious injury, could be in trouble. I think it shows we still have a little deadwood to cut next year.

First of all it is a very heart-felt post. It's quite beautiful actually and puts a spotlight on an 'individual's' back-story rather than putting forward blind, ignorant, non-researched comments such as 'flight risk' but......there are generalisations enclosed.

Some of us seem to somehow take offence when comparing one indigenous player to another, yet here we have someone saying they love watching indigenous players as they're the "most skilled players in the comp"

That's not a slight in any way on what fnm put forward and in no way should it be......but it does present a dilemma where we're seemingly happy to pool together race when it comes to something positive, but not so much when it's in any way perceived to be negative.

This has nothing to do with my own views but rather just looking at the situation.
Frankly, I wish we never had to bring up race/sex/religion and that we all saluted the same flag.....but we don't.....yet.
seriously like this post

I love it when some subtle humour gets through....or am I giving you far too much credit for something you just stumbled upon?? :)

When in doubt always assume you are giving ferris too much credit.
