Silvagni are you F-ing kidding me, surely it would of been better to draft a kid like junker, or Jarman or the best prospect from the WAFL or SANFL.
Silvagni won't be a part of our next flag so why draft him ahead of a kid who might.
Can someone please make me feel vetter about this by either agreeing or giving me a reason why this has happened.
It's not an area in which we needed it though. Surely Rowe & White will be playing in the ressies during the year and can offer this? While i don't think he is that bad of a player, it just seems a strange selection due to how many KPD we haveWe've hit the draft real hard, and traded for guys under 23 - need to balance the list with some experience so the kids have decent mentors and so in the case of injury we aren't forced to expose under-developed KPP's before they're ready.

Rowe is the only experienced defender not Inc White
Honestly it's a rookie pick so it's no biggie
Can we have an intra-club game next week???
Literally cannot wait to see these new guys in action.
Let's hope this is true but hey worse case he turns into our version of J RougheadAlso for big bodied mids I think you'll find Charlie given that role next year and will become our version of Nat fyffe. He will be in stoppages when needed and given license to run around and take those marks. He's considered as good a contested mark as anybody at the club. He's going to wreak havoc doing exactly that on opposition midfield groups.
So the club didn't feel it was in any hurry for that big midfield draftee because charlie was as good or better than anybody in the draft
I agree. You saw what Hawthorn gave up to get St Kilda's pick 10 this year, that was a great trade for the Saints. Teams aren't going to give away a first rounder for a future first rounder unless there is an incentive.Whilst I agree with this and hope it mostly happens I still disagree with your value (and others) of future picks.
If I were an opposition list manager and a club wanted my 1st round pick for a future pick I wouldn't do it unless the future pick would be better than the current. So yes I want to trade our 2018 first (10?) but I don't see a top 10 coming back.
I would rather trade the 2018 first for a player possibly homesick after GWS win the flag.

I second that...Martin comes to Carlton I walk. Pretty sure.............
fair callAnother pattern in our recruiting - the family connection.
In the last 2 years, we have added Curnow, Fisher, Silvagni x2 (with more to come) and Kerr. All have a family connection to the club
Not sure what the thinking is, but my guess is that we have had a pretty weak culture over the past 15 years. Close family ties help bring together a young squad, and naybe help overcone some of the issues we have had. Kerr, for example, is more likely to take his chance if his grandfather's name is on the locker across the room.
I'm with you, but intra-club games scare the shit out of me... You sit and watch and hold your breath, muttering "please God, no injuries..."Can we have an intra-club game next week???

Give me lane and circle work ...
But I can't wait to see these boys either. Last year was fantastic, 2017 will be even better...
I liked the Intra Club matches when Setanta was playing some serious ass kicking going on!I'm with you, but intra-club games scare the shit out of me... You sit and watch and hold your breath, muttering "please God, no injuries..."

Lachie Neale is 80+kgs these days, did you see how much bigger he was this year after a few pre-seasons. Zac is 14+kg lighter than Neale so that's almost 17% which means you cannot get any body on body in the guts or you are toast. You must admit 66kgs is even light for a forward pocket swooperHe has the skillset and was already playing against men, so you shouldn't be too worried just yet. Think Lachie Neale.
Geez we've done well over the past 2 years.
Quality high end players tall and small, SoS has done an amazing job to turn this list around.
Sure it's early doors, just can't help but be impressed with the building blocks put in place on and off (haven't heard a bitch from the committee in yonks) the field.
Make no mistake, we're heading in the direction.
I'm excited people.
