Loving not recognizing this beautiful team of mine.

Used to be able to recite every player and number off the top of my head. Takes a year to commit it to memory and they change it up again.

Love the churning.

We probably won't have as much currency next year. We have traded out our 2nd rounder. So it might be hard to make so many changes. Remember we were at the right place at the right time to pick up GWS players. GWS had to shed their list & we were the club able to make most the of it given where our list stood 2 years ago.

Although we have maybe 10 players on our list that won't play in a premiership team, 4 to 5 are required seasoned AFL footballers who are required to play a role during the Home & away season. These players are usually 27 to 32 ranked players. With 18 team comp you will never have an ideal list.

Due to our coming development year, we should have a low pick again. We don't have a 2nd rounder. We still need a couple of A graders, so we target. This should get our list to the potential 26 premiership mark
Even so, Thomas, Jacksch and Jones will be the first 3 to go.

I think Kreuzer and Casboult will go to other clubs as free agents.

You can raffle the other delistings between Buckley, Graham, Armfield, White, Boekhorst and Gorringe.

Rowe might have another year but is limited. Simpson hopefully has another season and plays into season 2018.

Great post.

I know it's 12 moths away but I just can't see how we get back into the second round of the draft without trading someone half decent. Maybe if Gibbs still wants to go back home.

Gibbs might bring added joy if Adelaide gets its pants on this time..........

Agree have to give up something good to get something good.

If Adelaide miss the preliminary final again due to lack of midfield class, I anticipate the two high draft picks will be offered or one plus Cameron or McGovern. The question is whether Gibbs will still want to 'go home' after being hung out to dry by the Crows recruiting team last year.

SPS - potential round 1 as a forward / midfielder.
Fisher - Northern Blues most of the year, a few senior games after the mid-season bye.
Macreadie - will play when one of Rowe, Weitering, Marchbank or Plowman is injured or needs a 'rest'.
Polson- Northern Blues development year.
Williamson - same as Fisher. Might get earlier games if. Simpson is injured.
Kerr - same as Fisher. Might get earlier games if Casboult or Harry is injured or needs a 'rest'.
Can see Fisher playing quite a few AFL games next year. Might be towards the back end of the year though.

Jamison's gone, Rowe is limited, Simpson has a year or two left, Jacksch to be delisted after season 2017.
The draft on Friday night all but stamped KJ's papers.

Finally Fisher will get to the 100 game mark! :thumbsu:

I am sure we all would have liked to have GC's early picks or GWS's academy leg up but SOS had what he had and I like what we we have secured.

SPS - potential elite, in a rebuild I have been thinking it would be better to go for a safe accumulator but I am onboard now as you can get them lots of ways, elite talent is hard to get and we may of had some fall in our lap. Rating: B - A+

Fisher - an accumulator we need, undersized but who cares we have Cripps/Gibbs/Ed and maybe Charlie as big bodied midfielders, I really like this kid in the 2nd round, he has quick hands, can hit short targets to open up the game. Rating: B - A

Macreadie - didn't expect this, thought we would keep loading up on mids. This could be a steal or a bust, why not at 47?. Rating: C - B+

Polson - small forward who has good skills, tackles and can go through the middle. Good hide SOS. Potential to be the hard nosed forward we need. Lots of pressure for that position now. Rating: C - B+

Williamson - I can see why SOS wanted to have late picks. December kid, athletic, lefty who rates high in combine. Why not, he could be anything in 12 months. Rating: ? - A

Kerr - looks like a traditional forward to me and am okay with the sentimentality at this pick. Suspect he will need to add defensive pressure to his game if he is get a game. Rating ? - B

I was onboard in 2015 with the trading and subsequent quality picked in ND and in 2016 they showed enough from that class for me to continue believing. Different trading strategy in 2016 and I think SOS played his hand well and given him options in the 2016 ND. So how did he use those options?

2016 draft is what I thought we needed - midfielders. SPS excites me and what I now think we must have and it gives me hope for #17, Fisher is what we need, Polson and Williamson could be anything and I like that strategy - perhaps prefer if they were both midfielders rather than potential midfielders but I am excited. Macreadie seems an odd pick but maybe a floater we just couldn't resist. Kerr at that pick doesn't concern me and I hope he adds the string to his bow he needs to provide us a forward option.

Carn the Blues!

I don't think kj papers are stamped.
The club sees the natural talent and kj knows he must perform
I think with a clear run ( no injuries) he's going to be a good ff and at least a back up providing key position pressure. There is no way that Kerr has a better game than kj.
Casboult Rowe white Jones will be gone I reckon.
Plus a bunch of smalls including Buckley graham who certainly are not up to it.
Armfield to retire but the family torch will be kept lit with Zach

But hopefully overall the list has been turnedover and evolved and will continue to do so

I reckon we could see Cowboy (SPS) Fisher and maybe Polson Round 1

Cowboy has the class to make an impact at AFL level straight away, Fisher has the sort of game which already means he'll mop up at VFL (he almost made the WAFL team of the year this year, with 4 Team of the Week appearances) and Polson has the sort of skills which generally can make an impact early in a career (Speed, skill and goalsense)

Also for big bodied mids I think you'll find Charlie given that role next year and will become our version of Nat fyffe. He will be in stoppages when needed and given license to run around and take those marks. He's considered as good a contested mark as anybody at the club. He's going to wreak havoc doing exactly that on opposition midfield groups.
So the club didn't feel it was in any hurry for that big midfield draftee because charlie was as good or better than anybody in the draft

SOS is clearly working from a multi-year plan. He'll be mindful of not stretching the age profile too thing. Don't be surprised to see us trade our 2018 1st for another premium pick next year, especially if BenSOS is tracking to go early in the draft.

I agree that KJ shouldn't be written off. He needs to be settled down as either a forward (which is his best position) or as a back. Fraser hasn't been a good coach for him, because he doesn't give him a chance to settle in the forward line. As soon as it looks like we are going to leak a few goals (which happens often) it's time to send KJ down there.

Have to say I'm loving all the new posters the ND seems to have drawn. :thumbsu:

Should HBF & The Old Dark Navy's be worried with all these new potential gun posters?

Will they be delisted in 12 months or allowed to retire on their own terms?

PS have enjoyed reading their posts & many others for many years & hopefully for many more years

I prefer the Clarko approach - try and convince them a shift over to the Freo/Melbourne board would be doing them a favour ... that always works well.

I fairness if the ball isn't getting down the forward line due to a lack of midfielders he may as well be where he can get a kick.

Charlie is the one I'm the most excited about. His game against the Eagles especially in the last and his first half against the Swans were glimpses of what he can do. As you say he's the big bodied mid fielder we need.
