Some players that I was following prior to the trials performances:

Vic Country

#29 Kayle Kirby– Kibry had five kicks for the match and collected 4.1. While the 181cm over ager showed plenty of spark and athleticism, I was a bit disappointed with him at stages as he just tried to do “too much” with the ball in hand at stages. Kirby also took five marks and laid five tackles which are his strengths- One to keep an eye on throughout the season.

#23 Lloyd Meek– Plenty of recruiters were keen on watching Meek in the ruck. He had a really good game with 22 disposals and dominated his opponent all day. Meek might be the first Victorian ruckman picked up in this draft.

#30 Liam McKay– McKay had a really good game with 22 disposals. At 191cm, he lined up all over the place throughout the day and continued to find the footy. He provided good run and carry from the defence moving the ball well going forward. One to watch…

Vic Metro

#31 Pat Kerr– Kerr was really impressive with his marking overhead being a strength, he went and played back in the second half, but due to his height he found it very easy to take marks against his opponents at both ends. A really like Kerr as a forward prospect and will be watching closely throughout the champs.

#14 Matthew Signorello– Signorello has averaged 21 disposals in the TAC Cup this year and continued his form claiming 23 on the weekend. He clears the ball well out of stoppages, often using his hands to find a free player. Could be a bolter come November…

#38 Karl Brown– Was really impressed with top ager Brown, he kicked 36 goals in the TAC Cup last year and dominated in the air with 14 marks. Despite being 192cm, he really extends his arms and gets space between himself and the defender to take marks. He kicked two goals in one of his better games I’ve seen him play.

Okay I've seen people get heights wrong and I can understand that but how can Kirby have two different birthdays? (31/08/98 on the Bendigo list and 26/10/97 on the Vic Country trials list).

Judging by the season preview on the TAC website for the Pioneers listing their 4 overagers I'd say that Vic Country made a mistake.

Can confirm it is 31/08/98 for #32 Kirby (Bendigo)

The #33 player on the Bendigo list has a DOB 26/10/1997, so would have been an error when someone added a DOB to Kirby for the Vic Country squad.

Brown is pretty injury prone. Would like to see him get through the year unscathed. Plus really like to see him dominate a few games as a 19 year old.

He was born in December so he isn't much older than most of the players in this years group.

He has to stay fit this year to be picked though.

I am adamant that Meek is the ruckman for us this year. Just looks like the type who has everything that we'd want.

192cm still but I don't really look too much into that really because there have been plenty of AFL standard key forwards of that height.

Re: his height, it should give a better indication of what he can do(at the next level) because he likely won't have much of a height advantage over most of his opponents.

I'm not worried about his height & more curious if he had grown over the past year.

He has slimmed down so hope he plays more CHF than at FF like he did last year.

anyone know much on stanley and lane? running off half back for ranges this year
Was mates with Lane in high school, very handy sportsman and good bloke too. I think he is sub 180 but he has some leaping ability so assume he will have a good year and the way modern footy is going I can see him making the grade but he will have to be very consistent. Has been in the bests the first few weeks so he is off to a good start.
